Musicians! how bout a confindence boost?
What has been some of your favorite compliments as a musician?
BQ: Whats been the weirdest/funniest?
c-dub- theres nothing better than impressing the people who never give any credit.....keep it up!
one of my favorites-I played a show about 7 months ago...and though the crowd there was this guy giving me the ''thumbs up'' the whole time...it was definitely to me cause i was a good 13 ft away from anyone else in the band.....anyway,after we packed up and i went to get a beer...i was stopped by him and two of his friends....he said '' dude,i play bass and i would give anything to play like you do'' then even made the comment that i was the best he'd ever seen...(he was drunk,lol)...but still i was so humbled by that all i could say ''ah man,thanks''..with a big *** grin .and couldnt stop smiling the rest of the night....

This one is probably the most receint. I like to put on the Zune and play along with the music. Well that day I was trying to And Justice For All. So a few hours later I go to check the mail. And my neighbor says was that you playing the drum piece for And Justice For All or was that your stereo? I proudly said, that was all me bro!

*** Nice Fitzwell !! Gonna give ya an "atta boy" for the drumming !!**********************
Some Of The Best Compliments (Recent )
1) The look on peoples faces usually says it all. If just one person is digging what I'm playing as much as I am..that's a huge compliment for me. Approval is NOT why I play, but it is a nice compliment !!
2) Recently covered a great song from a band ,I recorded it into my phone so a certain someone from that band could hear it,not only did I get the approval of "my version" but I was thanked for it. It meant so much to me. Maybe a two way compliment, the band now knows that someone they have never met and lives on the other side of the country is jamming on their stuff and LOVING IT !! That certain someone is none other than the man himself Colonel Wafflejaw !!
3) 4 voice mails from my friends who also listened to the phone recording and knew the song, raved about it,and left me messages telling me how cool it sounded..I was actually called a "song learning machine" I'll take that as a compliment.
SOME OF THE FUNNIER ONES
1) "Dude DIME would be so proud...you got it down and sound just like him". I should look at it as a "best compliment" ..but honestly DIME is so out of my league, so I laugh a little to myself and graciously say "thanks man that's too cool" followed by the old \m/
2) I was showing a blues player friend of mine the outro to " Floods" by PANTERA and he was having a little trouble with the pinch harmonics ...I told him "don't worry about it man,you make a mistake once it's a mistake, you make the same mistake again it's called jazz"

Last year at school, this one guy who thinks he was born to play guitar brought his to English class, he attempted to do some EVH tapping tricks and failed (well, to any amateur, he would've been grand).
Well, a friend of mine asked if he didn't care if I could see it, he let me borrow it and I played Gypsy Road by Cinderella, and flat out showed him up.
I guess it was worse for him cause I'm "just a girl". But I've played longer than almost anyone I know.
MA: Funniest (Hey, can you play some Dragonforce?), Weirdest (Ever take any sexy photos with the guitar?)

My favorite compliment was from my older sister : "You suck!"
Knowing her, it was probably the nicest thing I've ever heard haha
BA: I was playing once at home and my older sister had a few friends over. One of the guys came up to me randomly and went "You must be awesome at guitar hero" with a completely serious face. I was laughing inside but I had no idea how to respond to that.
Strangest was probably when my uncle said I was pretty good. Again, knowing him, that was not a very good thing.

Last night, I walked into a Rusty Hook practice session and the guitar player handed over his axe to me and said, "Everyone, this is the best guitarist in the freakin' room. Check this sht out!"
One night a few years back after a show, this chick tracked me down and said, "You sure go wild on stage for your age. How old are you, 40?" I was about 32.

One that I liked the most- A guy that I know that can really shred was playing around with me and said Dang lil sister got skills! It meant a lot because he is such a awesome player.
Strangest/kinda mean?- "Wow, you play guitar like a dude!" and "You are really good for a girl."

I was playing some Pantera on my stereo in my room and my brother thought that I was playing.
BQ: I had some weird kid in my guitar class tell me today that I sucked at guitar, but he's never even heard me play before.

Ive had people say "God Gave Rock & Roll To You !!"
That one probably answers both.
That and when i was playing once my uncle was like "beautiful, beautiful"

My brother-in-law, who never gives anybody ANYTHING, told me I was halfway decent at guitar.
My friend said I was "Mad good" and should start a band
