I am only offended if the host(ess) "demands" such a thing and then does NOT supply an appropriate form of footwear to substitute for my shoes... slippers, "cover-ups" for shoes such as in medical profession.. etc. THIS is MORE inconsiderate than asking for one to remove their shoes. ... oh.. and shoes is PLURAL, not POSSESSIVE!

    Have a polite day.

Not offended. In our area, the snow is melting, has turned to water, which is laying on top of the dirt, causing mud.

Tracking this mud all thru someone's house is not very polite..

I wish I'd have remembered that my daughter and her family always take their shoes off at the door. We went there for a birthday party this evening. If I'd remembered, I'd have brought some slippers to wear in the house. I'm diabetic, and not supposed to go without shoes. I did, rather than make a fuss when everyone else was stocking footed, too. But was very uncomfortable for me.

    It doesn't really bother me.

It's probably because I know the work it takes to keep the floors clean -and to preven wear and tear.

Some people will come into a home with wet shoes, muddy shoes, etc -- and it doesn't bother them to put their shoes on the furniture, etc.

Lots of furniture can't be put in the washing machine.

For those reasons --- I understand some of the reasons.

I once heard a story about a person who made a visitor stand in one certain spot in their home because of dirty shoes ... I think that is ridiculous.

Well, actually no, because I usually suppose that it's because of some "clean carpet issue". Now what will really get me riled up is if they make fun of how I take my shoes off!!! Just kidding!

i make people take off their shoes when they come into my house. it's because we clean our house everyday and it's a pain when ppl wear their shoes inside.
