it's not looking too good. i've been looking for jettas for a couple of months now and i typed in how many miles do jettas last into google and a whole bunch of websites came up with hundreds of people complaining about how crappy cars they are.

If properly maintained, Japanese and European cars can run another 100K to 200K (total of 200k to 300k miles).
Ex: My 94 Civic has 200K but it is running great. I expect another 100K easily.
But I also own Audi, and german cars are expensive to maintain and people start to neglect it (because of the cost). :-(
Good Luck...

300K if you try, but if you really try hard, those engines can go over 500K.
