Good athletic shoes for narrow, flat feet?

I need a new pair of athletic shoes. I have a pair of New Balance shoes which have served me well for everyday use, but when I work out my arches (or rather where they should be) start to ache badly. My feet are also narrow. Who makes a good shoe for my narrow, flat feet?

try Nike Air, or just Nike. But i think the best thing to do is go to a shoe store and try one all the different brands, and see which one you like the best :)

    Tennis Shoes For Flat Feet

i don't know what state you're in but Luke's Locker is a good place to go. When I trained for my marathon I had to buy my first pair of seriously athletic shoes. Their mission is to give you a good fit or they won't sell you the shoes. They measure you then put some shoes on you then put you on a treadmill and watch how you walk making notes and choosing shoes accordingly. Each manufacturer has their own pattern they use so each brand will fit a bit differently. Lukes Locker will try up to 20 pairs of shoes on you if necessary.

It turns out that have weird feet (somewhat high arches, narrow heels, and wide feet kind of like a duck. I guess that's why I'm a good swimmer - hee hee) I am one of the few people they could not help so they gave up after 20 pairs. I ended up having a pair custom made from a guy in Maine. It's $500 for one pair of shoes so I don't recommend it. After I got those shoes I really did not like them anyway.

Eventually I was in Sports Authority one day and tried on a pair of Puma brand athletic shoes and guess what - they fit like a glove !! Their pattern is made perfect for my feet. Even though these shoes are considered more of a fashion type athletic shoe, I add orthotics like gel insoles, gel heel pads, arch supports, etc. depending on what activity I'm doing. I have been able to use them for athletic activities with no problems.

My 2 cents for what it's worth.

Converse always run very thin. Most shoes from Germany run narrow because that's what's normal for Germans. They don't have much of an arch in their soles either.

Try Brooks Ariels. I absolutely love them. I also have very flat feet and they have worked wonders for me! They come in a variety of widths as well.
