I was pleasantly surprised. After watching every episode for four seasons, I was used to the fact the writing team had a penchant for taking the story in the direction I least expected, creating cliffhangers half way through a season and making us wait six months to find out the conclusion, and generally thrusting the characters into the most miserable scenarios they could think of. So I kind of anticipated that the finale would be a giant middle finger to the fans, in the mold of "Seinfeld" or "The Sopranos." Instead, they brought closure to most if not all of the story arcs and more or less gave the protagonists a happy ending, which I certainly thought would be the LAST thing to happen. I thought the ending with the Caprica and Baltar "angels" walking down the street to a montage of Japanese robots was a little cheesy (though I guess Ron Moore had to make a cameo somehow) but as a fan of the original series I liked the way they tied together both the premise of the new series, that "All of this has happened before and all of this will happen again" and also brought in the original show's assertion that "life here began out there." The writers did their characters justice, and I think that's the most fitting tribute to what has been the best written show on television for the past five years.

Eh? it was ok I guess.

My main problem with it is that is was painfully predictable. I suspected for some time that they would make us (real world earth) a mixed race of cylon and human. The only way to do that is for them to come to prehistoric earth-as opposed to modern.

That being said the final battle was way cool. The opera house thing came together but they really didn't explain the whole starbuck thing- or maybe I just don't get it. What is she and how is she the harbinger of death.

I could've done without the cameo or the robots at the end. And I found it hard to believe that everyone went along with the plan to give up technology so easily with the cylon threat still very real not to mention their history and creature comforts. And why the hell does the main "bad" cylon (cant remember the #) shoot himself in the face. Couldn't they have just had adama pop a few in him?

I guess the Baltar and Six being "angels" from "God" is ok. I thought it a bit preachy and cheesy but I love this show and its about the characters and from that perspective it was a good ending.

I was mostly disappointed by the end but my interest has been waning since the last few episodes. I groaned each time we had to see a flashback sequence. They contained some interesting info about the characters but not much that was truly pertinent to what was happening in the final episode. This is the stuff that should have been covered in the previous episodes. Would have worked better.

The main story thread that needed to be explained for me was Starbucks and we got no resolution on that. That was a cop out and so was most of the stuff that got explained away by supernatural means. That's too easy and I expected more. I wanted more originality from it but it was all a bit hackneyed for my liking. It's apparent that Moore lost control of the storyline and obviously had a hard time wrapping it up. Not an awful job, but forced and uninspiring from a series that was above par most of the time.

I did like it. Understand why people would be mixed about it. They did not really answer the question about starbuck. Or where the cyclons went .

But still think it was a Grade A ending to the show.

And youu gotta admit it was so Frakking cool to see the Old and new Cyclons fighting. The Old school cyclons with the over sized M-16's and see the new cyclons fighting along side Apollo and the other humans. (wouldn't you love to have a 7foot robot in a fight)

We all do need to watch it again and listen to Ron Moore podcast to fill in the blanks.

Still a A+ show will miss it.

I was confused for most of it.

I thought... It was mainly interesting. I didnt see it coming, but I dont see any other way of it happening.

The cylons could have followed them, and the war would have continued on for eternity.

They could have come to modern earth, which would be weird.

"This has all happened before and will happen again".

That makes things really come together.

I thought it was funny at one of the last scenes, the writer of the actual show was in the show itself, holding a newspaper.

Overall, I thought it was fairly good. Somewhat odd, and still trying to soak it all in.

And I agree with that answer ^^^. I thought it was all very pilosophical and almost religious (which I think was a big no-no for all those athiests).

I thought the ending was perfect. They could have spent time wrapping it up for everyone with ADD but instead they ended it with all of its style and drama intact.

Kara is an angel or messenger from god.

Hera is the birth of our current civilisation.

The previous 'earth' was a perfect piece of mis-direction by the writers,

150.000 years later was brilliant and for a show which had so many dark themes, it was nice to see it all end on an optimisitc note.

Kara was the harbinger of death. She led them all to the new Earth where any trace of the colonial humans has ended and we, the current humans have taken their place.

    Hera being mitochondrial Eve. =)

Ron Moore's not so subtle cameo. =(

The action packed middle part of the show. =)

The planet they found turning out to be our Earth as we know it. OBVIOUS. =(

All the "opera house" moments being explained and depicted. =)

John Cavil randomly shooting himself in the face for no reason. =(

Chief murdering Tory and risking the entire fate of two civilizations because of his emotional problems. =(

Them never explaining what harbinger of death means. =(

The heartbreaking last flight of Adama and Roslin. =) + ;-(

    Mixed.

I did think they would do 'the whole point of the show was to make our political statement and change the world'
