There are a number of Humming bird feeds on the market, but one of the best is Dilute Honey 1 teaspoon to 1/2.pint of water, but remember to change the mix every day,(and clean feeders) as Humming birds are prone to fungus infections and Mites.
Honey is natural and also has anti- biotic properties.

There are two schools of thought on this.
One is that you should put in sugar water because it replicates the nectar that hummingbirds drink. You can make your own or buy a mix from a garden center. You have to make sure that you change it and clean it often or it can grow bacteria, about every 1-2 days.
The other one is that you should put plain water in hummingbird and butterfly feeders because fresh water is harder to find for them than nectar. You don't have to change this as often, maybe once a week or so.
I tend to agree with the second one better. If you plant tubular flowers , especially those that are red, you should have no trouble providing hummingbirds with the nectar they need also. If you live in an apartment or don't have room for a garden you can hang a hanging baskets (petunias, lantana, verbena, million bells are all great), or plant a window box.

Just mix 1 part of sugar to 4 parts of water, shake or stir till completely dissolved. Mix only enough to fill the bottom and up the glass/plastic tube about two inches. No need to boil the mixture. Important to change the fluid every three or four days and rinse the feeder out good. By following these steps exactly I guarantee you'll have healthy, happy hummers and a ton of enjoyment. Give 'em a little time to accept the feeder. Good luck.

2/3 cup water
1/3 cup sugar
Mix and boil, mix again if necessary to dissolve sugar. It is very important to boil the water for the birds' health.
Red coloring is not necessary. Most feeders have red on them.

Hummingbird liquid. You can buy it anywhere, even at Walmarts. It's basically, water, sugar, and bright food coloring. But make sure you store it in fridge.
