do i need to file a tax return?

if I'm a dependent of another tax filer and I don't work, do I have to file a return and claim as dependent? Or can I just not file it.

    no , not unless you are generating your own money which you say you aren't, I think any thing over 800 bucks you have to file, it might be more now the laws change every year.

    As long as you make under 12k you don't need to file.
