Not sure about video (I'm using s-vid and DVI-HDMI), but for audio you can buy a male 3.5 mm headphone to red/white RCA composite cable. just plug the headphone end into the headphone jack on your computer and the other ends into the corresponding red/white inputs on your TV. These cables cost likes $5 and under aat any electronics store.

It will also let you play music from an iPod or other mp3 player over a stereo (no need to buy a $75 iPod dock with crappy speakers).

im not 100% sure for a laptop but for a pc u can buy a thing that u plug into it and it send teh image, have a look on ebay for a VGA adaptor/converotr or something!
