Magic Kingdom for Sale - Sold By Terry Brooks.
I read it for the first time years and years ago.
It's the reason I read all the time. I never go anywhere without a book.
It took me months the first time to get past the first chapter. The book actually collected dust while it had a bookmark in it. That hasn't happened since.
I'm rereading it right now and reliving the wonder.
This book showed me the first of many really wonderful places that I love to visit. Years later I still love it. The way it's written is unlike anything else I have found except Mr, Brooks' other books of course.
It's about a widower who buys Kingship of a Magic Kingdom for a million dollars. He's got nothing left that makes him feel like he's making a difference anymore in his world so he buys this kingdom that can't be real and leaves his law practice to take a chance. It's real. But there hasn't been an actual King in 20 years. So he has to get everyone to recognize him as king and pull everything together. To do that he has to figure out how to call the Paladin to be his champion. And discover that he's the one who can be the champion not only for himself, but also for his Kingdom.

This is going to sound immature and cliche but Harry Potter. I've grown up with Harry. I started reading it when I was 8, 10 years and half my life later and I still love it. I love the plots and the characters and the foreshadowing. i've watched the fandom grow and evolve and have loved every minute of it. Harry Potter has brought an entire generation to reading and I think that is a major accomplishment by JK. I grew up with Hermione Granger as a role model. I'm pretty sure that's the reason I'm studying at Sydney uni and not at McDonalds.
My favourite non-series book is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. It's a beautiful novel which touched my heart making me laugh and cry. Seriously I would definitely recommend it, same with Zusak's other novel I Am the Messenger.
