The world ends in 2012?

No, it won’t. None of the claims by the doomsday prophets are based on science, just wild speculation. The people writing the books (notably Zecharia Sitchen) aren't scientists and are just trying to make money.

The Mayans didn’t predict doomsday. It is just the end of the current cycle of their Long Count calendar.

Nostradamus didn’t predict it. He never mentioned 2012 and all the Nostradamus "quotes" being thrown around aren't what he actually wrote. They are what some people have decided that he meant. Even Nostradamus scholars don't agree on how the various centuries and quatrains should be interpreted.

The Bible never mentions 2012 or references it in any way. It talks about the end times, but there is no mention of when.

Nibiru/Planet X doesn’t exist.

The Sun isn’t going to be aligned with the center of the galaxy.

There is no actual planetary alignment. Sometimes the planets appear to be aligned in our view of the sky. This is a long way from actual alignment in space.

Geomagnetic reversal - These reversals of the magnetic field have occurred in the past, as shown by magnetic striping, but we can’t predict when they will occur again. However, the time between reversals is not constant, varying from less than 100,000 years, to tens of millions of years.

Although fast by geological standards, reversals are by no means quick on the human time scale. They take roughly 5,000 years, with estimates ranging from 1,000 years to 8,000 years.

Solar flares – These do increase and decrease in an eleven year cycle. They haven't caused any serious problems in the past. The direct effects of solar flares are mainly related to communications and radio transmissions. We had a major series of solar flares in 2005.

I am very stranged to this theory, and in case you are not related to it:

On the morning of December the 21th of the 2012 the earth, the sun, and the center of the galaxy (a black hole) will be in perfect alignement. We do not know the result of such a galacticly epic event, but it does make you wonder. One theory is that we will have a mayor pole shift. This will cause a mayor weaknes to sun radiation, rising sea levels, and upset climate change. This could be called the doomsday.

And if your more into culture, there are some mayor religios beings that all aim to the 2012. Here are a few examples, and sorry if this takes too long, I try to explain myself as best as I can:

*MAyan calendar: It was a strange rock that has extremely acurate time keeping. WIth it, you could be able to predict a solar eclipse thousands of years after created. But strangely, it all ends on the 2012. And according to them, the new cosmic year shall start.

*Iching: An ancient japanese book that consists of hexagrams, a small questionare of yes/no, that has 6 lines pattern, broken and full lines. But one scientist graphed all the possible patterns, and noticed that the mayor stand outs ploted in a time line, represent famous events like the fall of the roman empire, and the world war 1 and 2. But for some reason, on the last pattern 2012, it ends. It goes down to 0.

*The bible:St john, on the book of revelations writes a short scentence saying something like this "When man flies like the birds with the sound of a thousand horses, when mechanised chariots shoot fire blazing as a weapon, all end shall meet and the final battle against good and evil shall come". ITS NOT EXACTLY LIKE THAT. Its just a preview, read the book of revelations and find out yourself if you want. But experts have studied bible algorithms and found out again the 2012.

*Web bots: Special internet programs that are actually "reading" the internet for keywords like future, disaster, year, all those and provide an extremely and spooky answer to the future. On july 2001, the web bots gave a strange marking, but after some months of researching, they found it was a prophecy to the 11 september, only later know to the terrist attack. They have predicted some amazing events as well, but so far the worst is the 2012 doomsday

This is all I can say, but there are a lot more facts like the last planet of the solar sistem, Nibiru who has a strange orbit and comes to our solar sistem ever cosmic year. But somehow there are rumours and legends that life forms exist. But enough of that, I leave you to make up your mind.

I think that the the world ending in 2012 will be the result of a large scale zombie attack resulting from the outbreak of the Solanum virus.

Yeah I'll be disappointed and surprised simultaneously. As the Nibiru shock wave turns my house to shreds, I'll pound the table and say "Doggone it, those guys were right after all." This is great drama and comedy at the same time.

You've heard a bunch of trash and stories designed to either scare people (and therefore sell "survival" books or something) or simply because the people spreading these stories know absolutely NOTHING about science.

If the world ends in 2012, it will NOT be because of any of these claims you've heard (did you bother to research any of them to learn the truth?)

Year 4,500,000,000 is a bit more accurate, when the Earth will incinerated by the Sun turning into a Red Giant star.
