How much more does Kansas need to do this year for Bill Self to win Coach of the Year?
They lost all starters and a total of 7 regular players from last year's championship team, won the Big 12 regular season this year and now are in the Sweet 16.

Mizzery doesn't need a coach, they need a parole officer.

Yeah give it to Self. Bill Self is a great coach and I dont even know who would be in the arguement, maybe Louisville's Pitino has had a great year coaching, but I would say Self has the edge over both him and Calapari.

Kansas is not as impressive as Jay Hawkers would like to believe. Yes, they won the regular season big 12 championship(barely) but, then went on to lose the first game in the conference championship to Baylor of all teams.
They played a horrible North Dakota State team in the first game of the NCAA tournament and an even worse team in Dayton. They have showed nothing against quality opponents most of the year and have yet to be really tested in the tournament. Their season ends Friday when they play Michigan State. A team that already blew them away in the regular season.
Missouri's Mike Anderson should have been Coach of the Big 12 and certainly a contender for Coach of the Year after turning around a 16-16 team and taking the Tigers( who played against better opponents than Kansas did in the tourney) to the sweet 16 for the first time since 2002. Missouri can conceivably actually pull off a huge upset against Memphis this Thursday. Not saying it will happen but, it is certainly a possibility.
Go Tigers

Edit: Typical Jay Hawker. Don't let the facts get in the way of nonsense The fact is that Mizzou's troubles were year's ago. It is a different team and much different coach. I believe some Kansas players had a few run-ins with the law as well and isn't Kansas being investigated by the NCAA for rule violations?

the fact that the Big 12 is doing so well in the tournament really makes Kansas look better for winning the conference in the regular season. I think Self and Kansas deserve a lot more credit than they've been given. If they beat Michigan St. he should win coach of the year for sure.
