industrial piercing questions....?

i'm getting an industrial piercing this week, and i'm a little nervous..which means i'll be 100x more nervous when i'm actually getting it...i have an "anxiety" problem, there are some things i get SO nervous about and i can't control it, piercings are one of them.

i have my nose pierced, and my ears 4 times, and when i got my nose piercing i was really calm and chill before i got it...but once i sat down in the piercer chair i FREAKED out and couldnt control it, i just started crying.

i know the same thing will happen when i get my industrial piercings, i know i sound like a little baby, but really i don't know WHY i get so nervous and cant control myself like other people.

my question is, what should i/can i do to control my nervousness? would any pills help, like xanax, vicodin, advil, etc?

and also, if you have an industrial piercing, honestly how bad did it hurt scale 1-10 (10 being the worst)

NO rude comments please!

thanks :)

I have 7 piercings and I still get nervous for each one. My industrial honestly didn't hurt at all, a little pinch but it wasn't a terrible pain, it was almost an enjoyable pain. I'd give industrial piercings a 2 or 3, then again everyone take pain differently.

A good thing is to eat a banana before you go, its proven that bananas help with anxiety and nerves. It has always helped me. And if you are really freaked out about any pain at all, take a Tylenol 30 minutes before going to the piercer, but it has to be Tylenol, no ibuprofen, aspirin, or Advil; they are nsaids and aspirins and they are blood thinners and you don't want any blood during the piercing, but a little blood is perfectly normal.

Don't freak you'll be fine, joke around with your piercer first, it helps calm your nerves and you'll feel more comfortable with the piercer, and if you tell the piercer you're nervous they'll help you through the nerves.

Good luck! I hope you love your industrial!

Believe it or not, being nervous is actually a good thing. Being nervous means your body is producing a lot of endorphins - natural pain blockers.

You can try simple breathing exercises while you're there to help you a bit, remind yourself that it's only a second for each hole.

As for my experience, the industrial was far more painful thing I've ever done to myself. More painful than my genital piercing. More painful than getting tattoos between my toes. And the pain during healing was even worse.

Ok so the first hole the did was just like getting your ear done no pain really..but the second one hurt soooo bad.. Im not getting.. like an 8prob.. I have 14 piercings and only one other one was this bad..

but xanax would calm you down just take half of one though so you dont over bleed or pass out..

you wont be able to sleep on that side for like a week..just cause that one hole..

I have an industrial peircing & to be perfectly honest with you, it hurt pretty bad.

    But it's a quick pain.

It WILL hurt after you get it pierced, so just keep that in mind. it takes awhile to heal.

Just take deep breaths, that's what i do.

    i get pretty nervous too.

But, keep in mind it'll be over in a second.

    You'll be FINE. (:
