What is the cost of public schooling for an individual in the philippines?

Under the 1987 Philippines constitution public (primary and secondary) schooling is free. But I understand there is enrollment fees, and other fees to pay. Can anyone tell me what they are please. Or at least give me an idea. Thanks.

It's free to enroll. Maybe the school would ask for about P100 tuition/enrollment fee at the beginning of the school year but that's mostly it. The reason why most people still cannot afford to go to school is the several fees and contributions that the schools might ask for. Contributions for scouting, clubs, etc. even graduation or Christmas party fees. Although, a lot of schools have already been sanctioned for asking for mandatory miscellaneous fees.

Also, what most poor families cannot afford is the cost of transportation or commuting, food allowances, uniforms, books, school projects, etc. Some schools try to subsidize these through feeding programs or stipends but the effort is sometimes not enough. However, the Department of Education does have the biggest cut in the national budget. So, the government is at least trying.
