Question about the WBC?

Don't know about the "weight" or "steroid" issue...but I think the success of Korea and Japan show that you CAN be highly successful if your players have sound fundamentals.

When I coached Little League, I told my players that more games are won because of bunts and timely hits to the opposite filed than on Home Runs .... I think last night's game illustrated that quite well.

americans complain how unfair wbc was.

1. americans were not ready. team japan has been playing since like december.

2. americans didn't have their best players. japan did.

3. team america had so many injuries.

4. team america didn't take wbc seriously.

but these are all one-sided arguments.

1. first of all, team japan has been playing only for a month. just like team america. (that's what mlb.com says) so this argument is probably bs.

2. japan didn't have their best players either. for instance, nagoya dragons (Japanese MLB champions in 2007), boycotted the whole thing and didn't allow their players to participate at all.

3. injuries are part of baseball and only losers complain about them. Like Yankees and Red Sox. and don't forget they are also side-effects of steroids.

4. Just because American fans didn't take it seriously, doesn't mean the players didn't play their hearts out.

team japan also had to fight time zone difference and use different baseballs (higher seams, dry leather, etc). no matter how you look at it it was 100% fair and Japan is a deserving world champion. yes, america is still the best but japan PLAYED better. so stop whining it only makes us look like bitter losers.

No. They were able to have success in the WBC playing fundamental baseball but you still need to have player that can hit homeruns in the MLB game. Japan has produced some good players but never a serious power hitter. However, I don't think steriods was not an issue for any U.S. WBC players so it doesn't prove anything about steriods.

LOL, wow where to start.....there are so many things that played against the USA in this tournament I cant take the whole day to type it all out...the quick answer is the USA was & is not prepared to play this time of year, they are still getting going while most other countries have been playing for a few months. The bigest thing going against them is USA did not have nearly as good a team as they could have put out there. USA has so many amazing players that just werent interesed in risking injury to play in the WBC. If all of the best from USA played in the tournament when they are ready to play it really would be blowouts everygame. The pitching was horible by USA because they werent ready. The fielding & hitting was not what the best has to offer. Other countries put everything they had into this while USA didnt.

I started watching the WBC in the 4th Inning after Family Guy and American Dad were on(funny episodes btw). Earlier in the day I decided to watch Duke-UNC instead lol. But I turned it on around the 4th inning also forgot to mention I was watching NJ do they thang against NY( Nets beat the Knicks baby!!!)

The US players have a life outside of baseball...Weight and steroids are not the issue.... Who says the japanese and korean were not on steroids.

There is more to the game of baseball than just HOMERUNS! Japan played smart ball, got double plays when they needed them, again played defense and had some good starting pitchers.

i see were your coming from, you are trying to say Americans are only good because they use steroids, but even tough Japan won it doesn't mean there better i just shows you that USA did not use there best players and japan did. So who is the real loser???

So you're saying that the U.S players used steroids?

If what you're saying is that you don't have to use steroids to be successful, then you're right.

It's not about weight smart one. it's about the team that has the will to win. Ever heard of David vs. Goliath?
