Have you ever jogged or run barefoot?

Would you ever want to try it?

Here's a link to a mini-article about running barefoot:

Update:

I used to play football in my teens with a bunch of friends, and I always played barefoot. We played every Saturday from September to February, rain or shine.

When a barefoot Abebe Bikila of Ethiopia won the Gold for the marathon at the 1960 Olympics in Rome, the whole world saw how functional a pair of bare feet can be. In the early 21st century, American Ken Bob Saxton maintains the Web site runningbarefoot.org, which has inspired

numerous runners around the globe to investigate the

benefits of running without shoes. As of March 2007, Saxton had finished 59 marathons running barefoot. That is equivalent to running halfway across the United States, roughly the distance from Los Angeles to Kansas City.

The number of barefoot runners has steadily grown over the past several years. Brett Williams, ran the 2006 Salt Lake City marathon sans shoes. The Wall Street Journal and other media outlets took note of Williams accomplishment, and ABC News aired a feature on barefoot running in November of that year.

As in John73's case above, most doctors- unfortunatly - have a hard time thinking for themselves and only recite what they have learned in the past, right or wrong.

If you decide to begin running barefoot, start slowly in order to allow the muscles that have been limited by shoes to develope, as well as the sole of your foot. Also, your shoes have limed the movement of your feet and possibly ankles so the flexibility will take some time to come back. Use your own common sence and listen to what your body has to tell you as you condition yourself.

I started jogging barefoot approximately 5-10 years ago after seeing a website on how barefoot runners shift the weight from the front to the back of their foot. Before running barefoot, I tended to land heavily on my feet and struggled with right knee pain, but running barefoot has helped me out a great deal with that.

I get mixed messages on running barefoot. To me, it feels better to do it, but my doctor has twice (in two consecutive visits) made a point of telling me not to do it. For now, I sometimes run barefoot and sometimes run in sneakers. I consider it a compromise. :-)

    Thanks for the question.

YES. I always exercise in my Bare Feet, and It includes some every other day speed walking or jogging, always in my Bare Feet.

I wrestled in High School and in College in my Bare Feet as well.

All you need to do is to develope the thck Calluses needed for this, and this can be done by walking Barefoot outdoors and indoors all the time, which I do.

when I was little, I used to run around allll day outside barefoot, and I was totally fine. recently I took my dog out for just a walk for about 30 minutes or so, and I got three huge blisters on my feet that made it difficult to walk. so basically you can either build up the toughness of your feet, or just wear shoes

I have also played many games of football barefoot. When it rains, the ground, as you'd imagine, becomes very soggy. People begin sliding everywhere and you ca feel the mud squidging beneath your feet. :D

PEOPLE OF Y!A- it is much recommended!!

(just don' wear you favourite clothes) hehe
