Now that Cipriani has been ruled out of the Lions tour who do you think will be Wilkinson's understudy?

Wilkinson should not be in the Lions squad but I fear he might be.

He definitely won't be first choice though and he sure as hell won't play in the Centres.

O'Gara wouldn't either if it wasn't for the lack of good Fly Halves in Britain and Ireland. O'Gara has never been a great Fly Half, just good. Stephen Jones and James Hook should be considered ahead of O'Gara.

Jamie Noon is a terrible centre as well, just a bash bash merchant with no skill.

At Outside Centre we have Brian O'Driscoll, Tom Shanklin, Max Evans, Matthew Tait, Mike Tindall, Keith Earls and probably a few others who are all better than Noon.

Jonny Wilkinson hasn't been up for any international rugby for over 6 months. He won't be playing any international rugby for some time and I frankly wouldn't be surprised if he never plays international rugby ever again.

Cipriani was NEVER Wilkinson's understudy. Hate to break this too you, but he was nothing. He was never good enough to be Wilkinson's boot cleaner. He just doesn't have enough talent. He was just some novelty the English Rugby Union pulled out to try and continue English media and public interest in English Rugby. Some young and cute player who's already playing for Wasps! wow! he's just like Vainakolo and these new brothers. It's all just hype to keep the ignoramii in England interested.

Be surprised if Cipriani EVER plays for England again.

as for woodward playing him centre versus newzealand how did that work out, have to agree noon def ahead of him and about 50 other centres but strong point about noon!

Poor old Johnny hasn't played a club game for years, let alone a test game in the southern hemisphere. Stephen Jones will be the first choice Lions 10, with O' Gara on the bench. The only other outside half on the tour will be James Hook but he'll be mainly used as a utility back in the mid week games. There will be an Englisher player at 12 though, the Kiwi, Ricky Flutey.

you guys are all mad o gara is not borin hes the safe option during the 6 nations the english press were all over the place saying he cant tackle the only team that gave him trouble were whales besides that he only missed a hand full of tackles as for whos gong there will be 3 out halves on the trip o gara jones and hook in that order i can see the bulk of the pack being made up of ireland and whales with maybe a scot in there to cant think of his name right now scrum half will be peel first center shanklin 2nd o driscoll willams on the wing not sure about ther winger possably an english player and rob karney will be on the plane too but will only play mid week games i dont think many english will make the trip and id say stringer will be there too

If Wilkinson makes the team, they had better bring along 2 understudies. With Wilkinson there, the back up will need a back up for the amount of rugby he will have to play.

Wilkinson is doubtful for Lions selection himself. Ronan O'Gara and Stephen Jones are the form fly-halfs. Wilkinson would be lucky to start.

Wilkinson should go, he's class, but he shouldn't start any of the tests. It should be Stephen Jones, he's the best 10 in the Northern Hemisphere.
