Would germolene antiseptic ointment be suitable for a new tattoo?
reposted this as for some reason it wasn't showing up.
(getting my first in a few days) I'm probably being overly neurotic and the tattooists will no doubt give me something of their own to use for the first few days, but please, humour me for a moment. I've got some germolene antiseptic ointment laying around. Says it's good for minor cuts, grazes, minor burns, scalds, blisters, and aching muscles.
Would i be okay using this for the first few days or should i (if i'm not given anything on the day) get something different?
Bear in mind i'm in england. I'm pretty sure i can't get A&D or lubriderm.
Ah yep. Germolene contains lanolin. If i were to use this on my tat it'd fade so bad!
I'll order some Tattoo Goo. thanks.

NOOOOO! germolene is a drawing ointment, it is intended for drawing infection etc it will draw the ink out of your tattoo and cause fadeing, you need something like bepanthen,(nappy cream) to keep it moist, but your artis will tell you all the right aftercare and make suggestions anyway

Get tattoo goo.
Or any scent/dye free lotion.
I would suggest staying away from anything with antibiotic in it. If you introduce germs/dirt into the tattoo then yeah, but otherwise you just need a moisturizer. I mean I'm not gonna tell you it's bad because I've never heard of the stuff or used it, but...from my experiences I would stay away just to be safe.
