Experiences with ordering a dress from china?
I'm pretty skeptical so i'm looking for first hand experiences. I would like to know where you got it (website or ebay store), if it's good quality material (give a comparison to say, Davids Bridal, if you can), if you have pictures of the product you received and anything else you can throw in. I don't want to get what I pay for. Thanks!
I would never buy a dress from David's bridal because i think the material is too cheap - that's why I tried to tactility ask if the ones from China are better. I just wanted to hear about experiences others had, good or bad - so i can make an informed decision. I've tried on over 100 dresses in stores so I know what I want. I specifically wanted a Maggie Sottero knockoff but it sounds like that isn't really a good idea. I've found another dress online from a store getting rid of samples that i'll probably go with anyway - a real Anjolique dress. Thanks for the opinions!

I ordered from eBay seller gianinarbridal and had a good experience and I would recommend them.
However, you do get what you pay for - - don't set yourself up for an unrealistic expectation!
I found their fabric quality to be as good as any store/shop I went to (David's Bridal and individual salons) - - and where do you think DB dresses are made anyway? <the answer is china>.
I was really impressed with the embroidery on the dress, because a DB dress I checked out only had lace tacked onto the dress, it wasn't truly embroidered and my e-bay from china dress IS really embroidered.
I was actually happily surprised at the detailing on my dress - - my dress has beads on the design, which you really couldn't see from the photos on the internet. That was a perk.
What you don't get is individual service or a chance to try the dress on so you better be sure you LOVE that dress and have tried on something with a similar cut.
It was shipped in one of those plastic-y fedex type envelopes so it arrived bunched up & wrinkled and will require pressing before you can wear it - - a shop would receive the dress and press it for you before you ever got it.
But, the dress fits me perfectly and I only paid $219 including shipping - the closest dress in a salon that I remotely liked was $650, so you know what? I'm thrilled to have that $400+ dollars in my pocket and to be able to afford to have the dress pressed! It fits & looks good - I don't need a designer label to make me happy with my purchase.
If this link doesn't work - email me - it is to photos of the dress I ordered, first the pics from the ad, then of my actual dress when it arrived:

IF you do give this a try, I do have some suggestions:
1 - order in advance so if there are shipping delays or problems with customs you aren't running right up to your wedding day.
2 - get GOOD measurements. This is critical to your dress fitting properly and when you communicate them to the seller, be sure to spell out the word inches, if you abbreviate or use " symbols, they can claim your info wasn't clear and they went with centimeters instead of inches or something.
3 - be aware that customs could charge you fees on top of the selling fees. This is not the responsibility of the seller so you are at risk of having this happen (it didn't happen to me, but I'd heard from someone who was complaining about their seller because of this).
4 - DO order the accessories. Have them bustle the dress, order the jacket, purse & crinoline if you think you may want them. You can't go back later and get them and its so convenient to get them from the same place so all your material matches.
5 - do not order a "knock off" (where you see a photo of the designer dress and are promised a "similar" dress by the maker). Their idea of similar may not be your idea of similar. Look for someone that has photos of a finished dress, not a designers ad.

Many bridal gowns are made in China or some other country!
David's Bridal is one of the poorest quality stores out there, hence the cheap price! My mother used to make custom wedding dresses for a living and when I said I wanted to purchase mine so she could relax and not be stressed by having to make my dress, she said I could only buy it if it was better quality and more labor intensive than she could handle right now. When we went to David's Bridal, she examined the fabric and said it was horrible and she wouldn't allow me to buy anything from there! Everything is synthetic there! On top of that, my mom's friend is involved in a class action law suit against them!
Next, I went to a local bridal shop and ended up falling in love with a Maggie Sottero dress, that my mother also loves. She probably could have made it, but the details would've taken her forever, so she allowed me to buy it.
Many designer dresses are made overseas. I know my Maggie Sottero dress is and I love it! I only know they were made in China because the owner of the bridal shop was complaining about the price increase I had discovered on my dress (I tried it on 2 weeks before purchasing and they raised the price almost $200 because the Chinese factory was charging them $50 for each box the dress was shipped in plus additional fees!) Luckily I was able to negotiate the original price of the gown because they had it on record that I tried it on 2 weeks before and remembered the price.

I ordered mine from the ebay store charm_angell.
I just placed the order and I'm hoping for the best! They have a 99.3% POSITIVE feedback rating, so I figure they can't be THAT bad.
So far the communication has been good back and forth and I should receive my dress in mid May.
I figure, it's worth a shot, right? Even if it looks like crap, it was only a couple of hundred and I can go buy another...

almost everyone i have always talked to that ordered from China has gotten the short end of the stick so to say.
most these mock designer dresses are of very very poor quality and look nothing like the actual designer dress.
your wedding dress is the one thing you don't want to go cheap on. with most ebay wanna be designer dresses you get exactly what you pay for.
i strongly advise against getting a wedding dress from a Chinese site specially if they claim to be designer dresses.
ps: if the designer finds out they are doing this they can shut them down and you will never get your dress.. and loose all your money

My sister in law ordered her dress from China. We had to take her measurements and send them over there. THe dress was HUGE when she got....and that's after they sent her the Wrong dress the first time. Then the right dress wasn't completed with the bead work on the front. She did wear the dress and just used a large, gorgeous bouquet to carry for hiding the plain front.
I DO NOT advise that you order your dress from China.

Why would you do this? The Oriental figure is very different from an American or European figure so you wouldn't get a proper fit and I wonder if you believe you would really get a bargain or might you get something more suitable for the rubbish bin? Go to a reputable place where you can see and feel the fabric as well as get a proper fitting.
Your last comment is "telling", isn't it?

Dont do it!!! I have a friend who ordered her dress in this store: JORMA
OMG when we saw those dresses we tought that was amazing! so cheap and gorgeous! I was also thinking to order one for me.
She ordered her dress 6 months ago, They told her that the dress was going to be delivered in 4 months. She waited and waited a nothing. Her wedding is in 2 weeks and she is like crazy because she will have to rent a dress.
Anyway, my advice is: dont trust that stores!!!
Good luck!!!
