There are more but these are just some:

    BLOOD+

Blood+, the follow up to one of the best-selling animé films of all time, Blood: The Last Vampire, comes to your televisions. The story, set in modern-day Okinawa, follows high school senior Saya Otonashi who lives a happy life with her adoptive family. She is suffering from a great memory loss and can only remember the events of her life in the past year. Her happy existence is shattered one night when she is attacked by a blood-sucking creature called a "Chiropteran". The attack triggers her memories and she soon discovers that she is the only one who can defeat the Chiropterans.

Armed with her sword, Saya embarks on a journey with her family, allies, and Chevalier, Haji, to rid the world of Chiropterans and rediscover her identity. The course of the journey reveals the background history of the chiropeterans and Saya's very deep past, which extends into the mid-19th century. This anime seamlessly combines sci fi, action, drama, adventure, romance, horror, and comedy.

    RANMA 1/2 (watch on youtube.com)

Cursed to turn into a girl whenever splashed with cold water, and unwillingly engaged to the rather temperamental and violent Akane Tendo, 16-year-old Ranma Saotome's life is anything but ordinary.

    FOOLY COOLY (FLCL)

Naota is a normal Japanese 6th grade boy (although a little cynical), but when his older brother leaves for America to play baseball, his brother leaves his homeless 17 year old girlfriend, Mamimi, behind. Mamimi is sending mixed signals and advances to Naota, and he doesn't know what to do about her. But to make matters worse, Naota's world is totally turned upside down when he is run over by a woman on a Vespa. During their first encounter, she hits him over the head with her guitar, which then causes a horn to grow out of his forehead. She calls herself "Haruko," and her presence changes Naota's life to even further insanity.

    VAMPIRE KNIGHT (not dubbed...yet)

Cross Academy is attended by two groups of students: the Day Class and the Night Class. At twilight, when the students of the Day Class return to their dorm, they cross paths with the Night Class on their way to school. Yuki Cross and Zero Kiryu are the Guardians of the school, there to protect the Day Class from the Academy's dark secret: the Night Class is full of vampires.

    EUREKA SEVEN

Renton is a 14-year-old boy who occasionally helps out his grandfather as a mechanic. But his feelings of dissatisfaction and frustration grows as his mundane and routine work clouds his visions for his future and he dreams of flying around the world. It isn't until one day, a large human-like mech, a LFO (Light Finding Operation), falls from the sky in front of Renton and appearing from the depths of the machine is a beautiful young girl named Eureka. And as she asks the dumbfounded Renton for repairs, the two will embark upon a fantastic journey into the unknown.

INUYASHA (It was just completed a few months ago--a nice ending)

Kagome is a modern Japanese high school girl. Never the type to believe in myths and legends, her world view dramatically changes when, one day, she's pulled out of her own time and into another! There, in Japan's ancient past, Kagome discovers more than a few of those dusty old legends are true, and that her destiny is linked to one legendary creature in particular--the dog-like half-demon called Inuyasha! That same trick of fate also ties them both to the Shikon Jewel, or "Jewel of Four Souls." But demons beware...the smallest shard of the Shikon Jewel can give the user unimaginable power.

    GURREN LAGANN (sort of)

In the distant future, people build their homes and raise domestic animals in subterranean caverns. As a result, they live in fear of the occasional earthquake and cave-in, and have been for hundreds of years. Jeeha is one such village.

One day, a boy named Simon happens to find a small, shiny drill whilst digging to expand the village. At the same time, Kamina, a guy who believes that there is another land above the village, persuades a gangster to break through the ceiling in order to leave the cavern. Suddenly, an earthquake occurs and the ceiling collapses, followed by a big robot breaking through the ceiling.

Kamina is now sure that there is a world above them. Recklessly, he begins to fight against the robot. At that moment, another person appears from the land above. It is a girl by the name of Yoko. With a rifle in hand, she had been tracking the robot. However, all she could do was distract it. Then, Simon shows what he had found to Kamina and Yoko. It's a mysterious robot whose head is also its body.

    PLEASE! TEACHER (ONEGAI TEACHER)

Kei Kusanagi isn't your typical 15-year-old high school. He is actually an 18-year-old with a rare disorder that puts him into what he calls a "standstill." When he was younger, this disorder left him in a deep coma, which stunted his growth for the next three years. Mizuho Kazami is not your typical teacher either. She's actually an alien sent by the Galaxy Federation to observe the people of Earth. When Kei discovers her secret, he must now marry her as not to look suspicious. Also, Marie is Mizuho Kazami's ships main control unit, often watches over them. Now Keis life has changed, homework, dating, friends and the secret he has, all have their consequences.

(May contain sexual references, bad language, nudity...)

PLEASE! TWINS (ONEGAI TWINS) kinda whiny but OK.

Maiku Kamishiro's past has always been somewhat of a mystery to him. The only clue he has to who is family might be is an old photograph showing two young children, a boy and a girl, playing in a small pool outside of a blue house. In an attempt to find his family, he moves to this blue house and begins working as a programmer. He's living a comfortable life until the day two very different girls show up at his door, both in possession of the same photograph, and both claiming to be his twin. With no way to prove who is a relative and who is a stranger, Maiku allows both girls to move in with him until they know for sure.

    Just fantasy/action:

NARUTO (Complete with a "Pervy Sage")

Twelve years before the events at the focus of the series, the nine-tailed demon fox attacked Konohagakure. It was a powerful demon indeed; a single swing of one of its nine tails would raise tsunamis and flatten mountains. It raised chaos and slaughtered many people, until the leader of the Leaf Village - the Fourth Hokage - defeated it by sacrificing his own life to seal the demon inside a newly-born child, whose origins are as yet unknown. That child's name was Naruto Uzumaki.

    BLEACH

Ichigo Kurosaki has always been able to see ghosts, but this ability doesn't change his life nearly as much as his close encounter with Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper and member of the mysterious Soul Society. While fighting a Hollow, an evil spirit that preys on humans who display psychic energy, Rukia attempts to lend Ichigo some of her powers so that he can save his family; but much to her surprise, Ichigo absorbs every last drop of her energy. Now a full-fledged Soul Reaper himself, Ichigo quickly learns that the world he inhabits is one full of dangerous spirits and, along with Rukia--who is slowly regaining her powers--it's Ichigo's job to protect the innocent from Hollows and help the spirits themselves find peace.

    maybe OUTLAW STAR

Outlaw Star is about Gene Starwind, a guy who aspires to be an outlaw. He soon ends up with the most advanced spaceship in the galaxy, the Outlaw Star. The Outlaw Star has very advanced technology. It's a ship that was built by a cooperative of the Space Forces and the Pirate Guilds. Gene and his crew go on a quest to find the Galactic Leyline, battling space pirates along the way.

Try these! I tried to include descriptions so you don't have to look up each one.

    Fushigi Yuugi

Somebody already said it but I thought I would elaborate on it a bit more.

It's a drama, fantasy, romance, somewhat comedy, and sorta adventerous/actiony.

Miaka and Yui, two best friends, head down to the library after school one day. There they find a very special book called ‘The Universe of the Four Gods’. It’s no ordinary book. They are sucked into the story. There they meet a group of slave drivers who try to take them but they are saved by Tamahome, a cute boy with the kanji 'ogre' on his forehead.

It's a very good series and there are many different characters. It does get really sad a some parts though.

Source(s): I've watched the series and loved it

Fushigi Yugi is a must then. I watched it all dubbed, and it was great. You will love the romance between the characters, and there a lot of action and fantasy.

Its all about a girl who opens a book with her friend one day. Opening this book sends them both to the world inside the book, there they meet a number of characters from Old China.

try DNAngel. the only place I've seen it with English DUB/voice actors was on DVD though. I would say it is of the fantasy/romance/action genres, and some episodes are quite comical (at least to me they are). but it is very pg-13 so sorry if thats a letdown. I guess it would also be a teenage highschool drama too :S its a lot of things packed in one.
