foundation is to cover fine lines and minimal blemishes to make your skin look even. (although i don't like wearing a lot of foundation myself because it may come out cakey!)

Powder is just to be added on top of the foundation..again to even things out...too much can look cakey though.

concealer is used to cover the harsh blemishes..ones that foundations fail to cover. for redness you'd use a green concealer. and neutral for pigmentation or dark circles.

I have VERY sensitive skin... well very DRY and sensitive skin... I pretty much can't use most foundation... unless it's a tiny drop to cover some blemish. I use mineral foundation...it's fantastic, it doesnt' dry out my skin at all. my skin is acne prone too...it's sort of a combination of oily and dry. very annoying. if you have super dry skin like me i would not recommend you to use anything matte based (thick mousse foundation).

I think revlon and maybelline are...ok.. since they are drug store brand...they contain unwanted ingrediants...i noticed that some maybelline products has a LOT of paraben properties (bad bad bad!)

so make sure you have a look at the ingrediants... make sure they dn't have paraben, talc and bismuth.

For starters...I think you should get a foundation... concealer... eyeliner, neutral eyeshadow, mascara (optional, i'm not big on mascara), lip stick and lipgloss.

Okay, I'll give you all the info you need.

Foundation (almost always liquid) is basically a base color for your entire face to create an even skin tone.

Concealer is a thicker liquid to cover scars, acne, etc.

Powder can be 2 diff things. It can be a foundation but a powder kind or it can be a "Setting Powder"- a loose powder you use to "set" your makeup after you put on foundation concealer, etc.

I REALLY good brand for sensitive skin is Trish McEvoy (you can buy it at Nordstroms like, $75). This is AMAZING is gives you a dewy and glowy look while protecting, restoring, and enhancing. If you can't afford that, I good substitute is Laura Mercier (at Sephora for $42). It comes in an oil-free foundation so it doesn't clog pores, but you'll need to actually go to Sephora and have one of the consultants try a shade on you to see which one matches you. If you can't afford that, the new Maybeline Dream Silky Foundation (in a creamish/beigeish bottle color) is around $9. It gives you a dewy look and covers great!

I would suggest using a moisturizer (it moisturizes your face yet it doesn't make your skin look oily) and primer (it fills in lines and wrinkle and protects skin). This is the order that they should go in along with a good brand that's good for sensitive skin:

    1). Clean face (mild soap)

2). Moisturizer (MAC's Studio Fix Moisturizer, $26; or Cetaphil $10)

3). Primer (Smashbox's Photofinish Primer, you can get samples of it at Sephora :) )

    4). Foundation (the ones mentioned)

    5). Loose Powder (not necassary)

    6). Lipstick/Lipgloss, Mascara, Blush/ Bronzer (your choice)

    Hope this Helps!

OH! And remember to let your moisturizer sink in for at least 200 minutes. :)

Any of these drug store brands should make mineral makeup, and that would be hypo-allergenic. Your shade would be fair or ivory. Concealer is more concentrated, it is to be used only on certain spots like a pimple or dark circles under eyes. Foundation is to be used over the whole face (but you may not need this depending on if you have even skin tone or not) and powder is to go on top of the concealer and foundation to keep it in place. You can find a powder mineral foundation by any of the drug store brands which would be both the foundation and powder in one.

i wouldnt go full out if i were you, i would probably try a neutral tinted moisturiser because your still young, it blends really well into the skin and if you worried about shine i would use laura merciers mineral finishing powder because its soo seamless. I use clinique tinted moisturiser (in: neutral) with spf as i have pretty good skin and just want some colour. A good bronzer is also important aswell as a blush, probably the best blush and bronzer duo i have come across is the Nars range (blush in :orgasm) and Chanel is also great. L'oreal also has great blushes and bronzers.

Mascara is also really important. You should probably spend the most on mascara and tinted moisturiser. Mac has a great range, i dont really know your eyelashes but when visiting a Mac store they can assist in finding the right mascara to suit your lashes.

Eyeshadows are also great to perk up any outfit. Maybelline has a great range of colours. For brown eyes any colours will do, deep blues and purples look great. Almay has a great range of eye products designed for brown eyes.

If you want a liquid eyeliner go for Chanel and dont look back. There are two types, i prefer the one with a brush in noir as if provides a neater application.

Finally a good lip and cheek tint/stain is great for everyday. Bourjois has great colours, the red one is awesome and can create a berry stain when applied properly. Together with a subtle lip balm makes the perfect stained lip. Burts Bees has a fantastic range. Their lip balms are amazing and come in stained lip balms aswell which in that case you dont need a lip stain, you just need a stained lip balm. Great for everyday use.

These are heaps of options and you really for school only a tinted moisturiser or just powder and your not fussed. Either some bronzer or blush depending on the colours your wearing, mascara and lip balm. Try wearing sunscreen everyday and keep makeup to a minimum. www.primped.com.au is an awesome website for looks

    Hope this helps

Okay. I can totally picture you, and I would recommend Wet 'n Wild Mellow Wine blush. A little Maybelliene Great Lash Blackest Black mascara + Revlon Black eyeliner. These are all affordable (under $6 and hypo-allergenic). This is a light, walk-around face. Oh, and I would recommend Bare Minerals Fair Pearl foundation (this is more expensive)

    Hope you like the look!

In my opinion, the best thing to put on your face is Trublend by CoverGirl. It is a light mineral powder. It barely feels like you have anything on and it evens out your skin tone very nicely. It is also very affordable - maybe 6 or 7 dollars? I have used it for years and have never had a break out because of it - and I have even slept with it on. It actually repels shine and makes your skin feel less oily - plus the minerals are good for your skin. I use color 415 translucent medium but my skin is kind of tan. You might be better with 410 - its slightly lighter.

As for some other quick make-up, you can put on a few quick things when you're in a hurry. This would take you maybe 5 minutes - I also have brown eyes and light purple accents them. Put a light purple eyeshadow on your eyelids - but not too much and not too high. You don't want eyeshadow up to your eyebrows! You can get a Wet'n'Wild eyeshadow for maybe a dollar or two. Then just put a coat of black mascara on your eyelashes using CoverGirl Lash Blast. It is the best mascara and is easy to use because it rarely clumps. It also comes off easily if you accidentally get it on your face. Since you're new this, the mascara might take a few days to perfect, but you'll get the hang of it pretty quickly. Lastly, just put on a moisturizing lip gloss or even chapstick. If you can find one with a subtle hint of color that you like, that's fine.

So all you have to do are those few things and you'll look and feel much more vibrant, yet natural =)

Go to the Prescriptives counter at Dillard's or wherever, because if you're asian, you probably have a yellow/orange undertone. This means a lot of the drugstore brands in the US will look pink on you. Which sucks. A custom blend at a makeup counter will cost about $75 but trial and error anywhere else could cost you more.

I think you should try just using a lash curler, mascara and lipstick. I only wear foundation when I know pictures are going to be taken.

    Source(s): Also, I'm Asian.

Foundation-can be either compact (like a paste that's pressed like powder, but moister), powder or liquid.

    Powder- pressed or loose.

    Concealer- liquid or solid

I really like Maybelline's products. If you're just starting out just maybe use pressed powder, not foundation. Neutrogena makes a really good pressed powder--Neutrogena's SkinClearing Pressed Powder.

Bare Minerals is a very good brand for sensitive skin, it can also help keep your skin healthy, they have foundation and concealers and blushes as well. Makes your skin tone very even and not shiny too, I love the stuff ^_^
