How does this work out?

It is very hard when someone you love is going for that long but you must try your hardest as a couple to stay in contact maybe sit down together and organize something that you can both do. Like emailing each other on a cretin day and organize a time when you can go online and chat or send letters to each other. As long as you are both making time to check up on each other. Okay, if you two really truly love one another, you will find a way. In this day and age it is not that hard to keep in touch while in the military. As for the 3rd answer, do not listen to him. He is just jealous, because he has no one. E-mail is the fastest and easiest and probably most reliable way to communicate these days besides phone but computers are easier to get to while on duty. so good luck. Damn, I hate negetive people, don't you?
