You need to install the Microsoft office compatibility pack to open documents created in office 2007. It is available for free from Microsoft here.

It is the format of office word 2007. For MS word 2007 that's DOCX. Though if you are using Office 2003, you can download the office compatibility pack from microsoft.com for free to open docx files.

Assuming you have a version of MS Word prior to Word 2007, (which is what generates .docx files instead of the older .doc files), you can get the free Microsoft Compatibility Pack here:

Compatibility Pack from Microsoft (free): http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?fa...

If you don't have MS Word but only need to read the file, you can get a free reader here:

Microsoft Word Viewer (2007 and older) (free):

    Hope that helps.
