According to my calculations I have enough best answers to be in the top 10 but I am not any idea why?
I just looked through my best answers and roughly 100 (98 according to my count) of the 812 best answers are not in the Football (American) category. This means that I have about 712 BA's in Football (American) which would make me 10th by 50 answers over the current 10th place person (who has 664).
I know that the top 10 was down for a while but my understanding is that it is back up. I know I have seen the numbers for some people increase.
The only thing I can think of is that for some reason when I first signed up for Y!A I somehow signed up in Y!A Canadian (not American). And for some reason only people who are listed as American are counted -- yes this explanation does not make sense to me but that is why I am asking.
Does anyone have an explanation why even though I have the numbers I am not in the top 10?
Or does anyone know how I can find out for sure why I am not listed in the top 10?
Thanks!

Well, the Top 10 list is by REGION or SITE. If you are signed up on the Canada site, then your answers are counted on the Canada site -- and it is there that you need to compare yourself to the Top 10.
For example, I am signed up in the US. While I may answer UK or Canada questions, they count only on the US site listing. So I am NOT in the Top 10 on the Canada site, even though I have lots more BAs than the people on that list.
See: this is the link to the Top 10 list of the Yahoo Answers subcategory in Canada -- and I'm not there. I'm only here on the US list.
