argon welding gas for a mig welder?
we have a bottle of argon for the mig welder but its 15 years old,does it go bad over time?

Nope you are good to go. Argon is not flammable it just promotes
the welding process. Try a test weld first.

Argon is inert and worst case scenario is the valve fails.
You should probably get a new bottle or get that one inspected, I suggest going with a 92% argon/ 8% Carbon Dioxide mix because it welds the smoothest on mild steel(use straight argon for aluminum)

The gas does not go bad, but the tank could.
Those tanks must be inspected every 5 years.
You could use the gas but you couldn't refill the tank until after it is re-certified.
So long as there is reasonable pressure in the tank, it shouldn't be contaminated.

Argon is a noble gas. it is inert and doesn't react with anything,It will stay usable for ever.
