With both of my boys I started with rice cereal and then baby food. I would give them a type of food and then wait 2-3 days before giving them another new food. In case they had an allergic reaction, we would know what caused it.

I started giving them table food around 6 months. I would give them a few bites of mashed potatoes or whatever was soft.

My son likes any toy that is small enough for his hands and he can put in his mouth. Walmart has a good selection of little baby toys. They are pretty affordable as well. I hope it helps. Good Luck

Nope. They start with infant cereal, and only if the tongue-thurst reflex is gone. If that isn't gone yet in baby then introducing foods other than the bottle will be pointless because their systems haven't developed enough to swallow and not choke. Get the flavored kind like banana or apple because they will like it better. You can also make your own by blending cream of wheat and then mixing it to make a thinner cereal. If they do well on the rice cereal move to the whole grain cereal and then to the infant oatmeal. After about a month on that THEN you can start introducing fruits and veggies to them one at a time. Yogurt can not be safely introduced until after they clear 6 months.

Instead of buying commercial foods make your own as it will be healthier. There is so much salt, water and junk in commercial baby food (and they don't have to disclose all of it since baby food is not regulated the same as other food items). It will also be cheaper to make your own.

My son did cereal at 4 months. I didn't start introducing fruits and veggies until he was almost 6 months old. I made my own applesauce and purees for him when he started not just because he hated the commercial stuff (and who can blame him- yuck) but because of the junk in it. He didn't get pieces or bits of table food until he was closer to a year old and was chewing well on his own.

Start with rice cereal, then veggies. One at a time so if there is a reaction, you know which food it was from. Veggies are recommended before fruit because most babies will prefer the sweet fruits and refuse the veggies. Start with the completely smooth foods, no chunks at all. Yogurt is great too. My daughter loved Yo Baby by Stoneyfield Farms.

Colorful toys are stimulating. Toys that make noise, like rattles. Make sure anything you give her is not small enough to fit in her mouth.

When starting babies on food, it is best to check with their doctor first, just to be sure.

But, start her on baby cereal, baby rice cereal is best. Once she gets used to that, slowly introduce new foods, starting with vegetables, hold off on the fruits for a while. Only introduce one new food every 4-5 days so you can watch for any adverse reactions your baby may have.

There is more great info at http://www.whattoexpect.com/

A good toy is anything really. Unless it is dangerous there is no such thing as a bad toy.

Start her on stage 1 foods (for babies 6 months old) Start with vegetables first. Sometimes if you introduce fruit to your baby too soon before they've had other foods, they develop a sweet tooth and don't want the veggies. My son really liked anything but the sweet potato. He likes it now, but he didn't the first few times he had it.

Well if she's been on rice cereal for a while then you can go ahead and try stage one foods. Start off with easy things, like applesauce and pears. Then try things like carrots and peas. Careful with bananas they can make her constipated if given too much.

They say you should start off with veggies so your baby doesn't develop a preference for sweet stuff.

But I started off with applesauce.

Always wait three days to start a new food, so if baby's allergic, you know which food she's allergic to.

Toys... Rattles, teething rings, the like.

Tinned baby food such as pureed apples, pears, banana's (or you can blend these at home yourself). Also pureed pumpkin is good. I find mushing some roasted pumpkin in a blender with a little water added is fine. Keep to one type of food at a time, and progress to mixes of food (ie apple and banana) after a few weeks. Mine is 7mths and been doing the baby cereal for a few weeks, started the pureed stuff from 4mths.

communicate to your generic practitioner first if thinking beginning a baby below 6months on solids. i could start up with infant cereal, then flow onto vegetables. do no longer start up with culmination. each and every each and every now and then, in case you start up off with culmination, your infant won't eat the vegetables with the aid of fact they are no longer candy like the fruit.

I started my daughter on rice cereal. After a few days we tried the oatmeal. She wasn't to fond of that. I tried to give her the stage 1 peas last night ans she looked at me like WTH is this and spit it out. It was pretty funny. As far as toys she likes stuffed animals that rattle or have that bell inside them. She loves teething rings too and we have a toy that has a baby mirror in it and she loves to look at herself.
