Curious As To How People Rate Responses?
I am curious as to what criteria people use to rate responses to questions on this forum. Do you personally rate the responses based on whether you think the person's answer is simply stupid, whether or not you agree with the answer, whether or not it the answer is rude or inappropriate, etc. Please feel free to elaborate.

I give thumbs down to answers that are conservative or otherwise ignorant.

I find that it truly depends on the question. I do not give thumbs down often, but if I do it is because:
-Question is not detailed enough to understand.
-Off topic/Inappropriate/Against Yahoo! Answers Community Guidelines
-Rude
-Sometimes if I disgree with an answer, but I first research to make sure if they are fully right. I want to be honest with my rate responses and not give thumbs down for no reason.

Thumbs down belong on answers that violate the rules or contain factual errors (to give people a 'heads up' that something might be wrong). Opinions should not be part of the evaluation process.

I only give thumbs up.... and it depends. Usually I thumbs-up happy. If they give a good, or funny answer I'll give them a thumbs up. Sometimes I'll see a serial thumbs downer and automatically give every answer a thumbs up whether I like or agree with it or not. When I ask a question, every answer automatically gets a thumbs up, regardless of what they write.

Hi
It depends on the questions.
In polls, I always thumbs-up answers, because it's their opinion...how can you TD someone's opinion, you know?
In other questions, ones that are based on opinion or fact, I usually thumbs-down answers that clearly don't answer the question, or that are rude and disrespectful, or that advertise. Other than that, I thumbs-up answers that I find thorough and informative, I TU answers that add helpful websites, and I TU answers that are nice and respectful.
