Do I need a passport to travel from the USA to British Columbia?

I live in Washington and would like to visit Victoria, BC in the near future. We would be taking a ferry. Do I need a passport or will a valid drivers license/birth certificate suffice?

actually british columbia which till now starting to be a member of the dominion of canada grow to be a british colony. grow to be broke because of the fact they spent a million money which interior the 1860's grow to be alot of money on construction a highway to a gold rush city and while the gold ran out they could no longer pay decrease back the money they borrowed for the line and different issues. Which meant they could the two had to connect the U.
