have sound effects in albums ever caught you off guard?
the reason i ask is this morning ,driving to work, i was listening to Rush's ''red barchetta'' for the first time, and there was a sound effect of what i thought were screeching tires....so i freak out thinking im gonna get t-boned by another car (i was at a four-way stop) and i hit the brakes and start spinning my head in all directions looking for tradegy to strike me down....Im pretty sure i looked like an idiot......im still laughing about it.

The Black Crowes - Thick n Thin has an intro sound effect with the tires screeching and then a horrible crash sound. I nearly sh_t my pants and had a heart attack from that intro.

I have done that about a million times! I usually get the siren sounds in the background, and I start looking everywhere for cops. There was one song (can't remember which) that has a wierd clunking noise in the background, and I seriously thought my car was going to fall apart or explode! I always panic, than laugh at myself.

There's the most wonderful screech in one of my favorite Grateful Dead songs: Unbroken Chain
A very industrial sound, which coincidentally, sounds like my cell phone ring. I set it to that so it gets my attention! ;-D
I'll try to find a link.
And that same sound (sorta) is in a Todd Rundgren song... which one it is escapes me at the moment... both of them send me scrambling for my phone!
**edit**
Found several live links, but I think it's only on the studio version... which isn't on YouTube currently. But I'll include one I found because I'm enjoying listening to it so much ;-)

I don't know how many times Pink Floyd got me with the freekin phone ringing in the backround !!
They also got me a few times with the dog barking in the backround way off in the distance.Same thing with the "voices'..kind of creepy if you're not expecting it !!
Queen got me with "I'm In Love With My Car'...the squeeling tires, the rev of the engine makes ya think someone is passing ya in a stock car !!

Yes! I'm drawing a blank on what song it is right now, but there's a part where there's a very subtle phone ring type sound, and it *never* fails to make me look at my phone. Does it sound anything like my ring tone? No. Which makes it even more embarrassing!
