Any sure fire, no medication, ways to help me cure my insomnia?

For years now, I've had a problem sleeping. Most nights I only get about six hours sleep (on a good night) with my usual average being maybe three or four.

I've been to doctors, only to be prescribed medication that nearly killed me (no exaggeration there) and then when they found out I was allergic to it, I found out that there was nothing else I could take.

So as I sit up this early April First...I find myself asking a stupid question.

What's the easiest way, without medication, to cure my insomnia and help me sleep? I need the deep sleep, the restful sleep. Something I've not had in...well years.

Exercise is one way to get a good night's sleep - you need to do it in the day so that you have time to wind down at night. Warm milk. Warm bath before bed. No TV or computer use in the evening hour before bedtime; Valerian, Melatonin which are supplements that are supposed to promote sleep. Since you have had this problem for a long time, I have no idea what you have already tried. When people have a sleep disorder, regular routine - doing the same thing every night, going to bed at the same time an the above suggestions can eventually retrain your body into a more normal sleep pattern. There are also doctors who special in sleep disorders who might be able to help you.

Not much. There are drugs that the doctor can prescribe that are basically synthetic man-made versions of the chemicals that your body makes, or at least it's supposed to, under normal conditions. You can try a hot bath, but when you go to sleep, your temperature drops. Don't make yourself uncomfortably cold, but turn the thermostat down a few degrees. Also, have a turkey sandwich for the tryptophan. And if you don't go to sleep within 15 minutes, get up and walk a little. Alternate the 15 minutes trying to sleep with a little walk. This will hopefully also help.

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!

    1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.

    2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.

The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.

After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net/

    Ohhh..and Good Luck!
