What's the best way to drill a hole through a eucalyptus pod/bud?

I have a project where I have to drill through eucalyptus pods/buds to string them together. I've been using a countersink drill bit and alternating that with a glass/tile drillbit. Still, it's taking me 30 mins to drill through one bud!! Anyone have any ideas to make this go faster?

Sounds like your drill bit is blunt, buy a new one of the right size, made for wood, and when you drill, make sure the drill is set to low speed otherwise you may burn the pod and blunt the drill bit. Good luck

make sure that the drill is running in the right direction.
