I have a Paypal question.?

I sent off a payment for a sitting fee. This was just to hold the date. After the pictures were done she gave me a refund threw paypal and I got a note saying it was refunded from paypal. But when I look at my checking account it does not show up. Also it is not in my paypal account. I sent them an email but who know's when paypal will answer. Anyways does anyone know if paypal puts a hold on it?
