Why are some of these questions being deleted?
From time to time I have noted that some challenging questions have been deleted. Yesterday there was a question in religion and spirituality that attacked Christianity. It was from a former Catholic who now was an atheist. I think his question was interesting. I did not agree with him, and I tried to answer his question. I was not able to answer the question because it had been deleted when I submitted my answer. Very frustrating.

Most questions are removed due to reports of abuse by the users. Enough reports, and an automatic, weighted program does the removal. Appeals are allowed, but are often denied.
R&S is a VERY volatile section, and things there will often be removed rather quickly by users with opposing viewpoints. Not all of these removals are valid, but it is easy to slip into a violation, since the rules are a bit vague and easily misinterpreted.

It could be any number of reasons, because people don't always report because the question or answer is in violation. The person who reported this ?????? was probably someone who got mad becasue the person stopped being a catholic. I remember one guy put his picture up and asked if he was "hot." Everyone who said no got deleted!

Because it was not a question seeking knowledge or advice but became a rant. Many users do not know when to stop typing. The q starts off great but the additional comments become destructive.
