    Yes many times.

A great friend of mine (although we've only spoken over the internet) is deaf. Which I didn't even know until a few months ago haha.

At work there have been many deaf people that I have served. Many of them I really wasn't able to tell their were deaf. Their lip reading skills were absolutely amazing.

In a way I do sometimes get sort of "uncomfortable" although that would not have been my word of choice. Simply because I fear that I may not be speaking as clearly for them to be able to read my lips accurately. (My ASL is terrible otherwise I would make more of an effort with that).

And then there are times where I feel that I accentuate too much and I fear the person would feel insulted.

I am not profoundly deaf but do have a hearing impairment. My mum is BSL trained in sign language so has taught a little girl for a long time who is deaf, I have also met many friends of hers that were/are deaf.

Yes I have met a deaf person, I didn't feel uncomfortable at all, she explained to me she was deaf and that I needed to look at her when I was speaking, I'm glad she explained because I do tend to 'waft' my head about when I'm talking!

I work with 2 deaf people and I've met a fair few more. I've never felt uncomfortable with any of them.

I have met many deaf people and felt at ease. I talk to them with sign language, not signing. I do know some sighing, but not all. We always had a good conversation. A lot of people wont look beyond another persons handicap. Thanks ever so much for asking. You have a very lovely day, and my God bless.

  • I have a lovely friend who's deaf and no i don't feel uncomfortable in any way , she's just the same as all my friends xxx

  • A few years ago I was volunteering on a sweet stall at a fireworks display and a deaf gent wanted to buy some and I amazed myself at how well without any training I was able to communicate and get him what he wanted, might actually bother to learn BSL in case I need it in the future!

    Nice skill to have!
