Is GTX 275 better than GTX 280?
I mean performance wise, which is better? What's the memory bandwidth of the GTX 275?

Good question I say. When it comes to Nvidia and their wacky naming schemes you can never trust that a certain card will be faster than another just because it's number is "higher".
The GTX 275 is newer and uses the more effcient GT200b core built on a 55 nm process. That aside, the GTX 275 is almost identical to the 280 except that it has only 896 MB of GDDR3 VRAM (the 280 has 1 GB of GDDR3) along with a 448-bit interface (512-bit on the 280). One other notable difference is that the ROP units on the 275 have been reduced from 32 to 28. This means that FSAA will cost a bit more on the GTX 275. The stock core and shader clocks are a little higher on the 275 though, which will help it to even out a bit. However, a GTX 280 can easily be overclocked to match or surpass the 275's clocks.
Overall memory bandwidth for the GTX 275 is 127 GB/s compared to the GTX 280's 141.7 GB/s (thanks to it's 512-bit interface).
The bottom line is that these two cards will perform very similarly. If you are choosing between these two cards then your choice is a no-brainer. Go with the 275 as it's a better bang for your buck. I have two GTX 280's in SLI and I paid over $500 for my first one so it pains me to see that for $250 you can get similar performance now. That's just a fact of life though when it comes to computing in general.
Hope this was informative for you.

Actually they were the same, But The GTX 280 was getting killed by AMD in performance and price at that time, So Nvidia released the the GTX 275 with a much lower price of $249, And it had the same performance. As the GTX 280 that cost $649. This made many GTX 280 owners at that time really angry, Since they paid over twice the amount for a GPU with the same performance level as one that cost $249. Needles to say this was a dark time for Nvidia. But the dark time did not last long, Nvidia finally caught up with AMD in just a short period of time, And their 400 and 500 series matched anything AMD had in price to performance. And then later when Nvidia launched Kepler they took the lead and have kept it since. However they have grown a big head again and ask too much money for their GPU s. But since they have stable driver software many think the higher price is worth it over AMD.

Well I have the GTX 260 and it's a beast, but GTX 280 is alot better. You'll be spending a bit more money on the 280, but you're paying for quality! Trust me..

nicely... all of it comes all the way down to in case you will commerce off slightly worse overall performance for a unfastened recreation. you may OC the 275 yet you additionally can OC the 280. they don't seem to be THAT diverse.
