Stay at the Hotel Burnham which is on the corner of State & Washington. The red line runs under State and there is a stop basically right across the street from the Burnham. Don't take a cab or drive to Wrigley, you'll never get around that way...the red line is the way to go. $2.25 per person and door to door service. If you guys are flying into Chicago, just buy a CTA 1, 3 or 7 day pass at the airport and that takes care of your transportation for the whole trip.

You don't want to stay in Wrigleyville anyhow, it's more of a college town with mostly bars.

    Hi -

Actually, as far as hotels in the area, you actually have quite a few options. All walkable and very nice. Best Western Hawthorn Terrace is the closest at a few blocks and the Majestic Hotel is right behind. Both are in walking distance to Wrigley AND the lake. If you're feeling like a bed and breakfast thing... there's the Old Chicago Inn too.

But yes... as the other poster mentioned... any downtown hotel that is close to the red line gives you easy access with a short train ride.

Anyway, you can take a peek at all of hotels near Wrigley on the map and learn a bit more at our website. There's lots of cool things to do and places to eat around the park, so I don't think you'll be disappointed staying in the area. Have fun!

I would recommend staying downtown and taking the L to the game. The CTA Red Line will take you from downtown to 1/2 block from the ballpark.

Hotel prices in Chicago fluctuate depending on what's going on that weekend and their vacancy levels - you can get a good idea of how much it's going to cost on any of the major travel sites. Orbitz, Travelocity, etc.

(I usually find the best deal I can at one of the travel sites and then see if I can get the same price booking directly with the hotel. This just makes it easier to deal with any changes, confusions or mistakes with the booking, etc.)

Any hotel concierge will be able to direct you to the train stop. On game days, the trains will be filled with Cubs fans, and safe even if the game ends late at night. The drawback is you might have to stand, but it's a short ride.

The Red Line runs along State St. through downtown, so pick any hotel that's within a few blocks of State.

I would recommend either the Best Western at Hawthorne Terrace, the City Suites Hotel at Belmont and Sheffield, or the Days Inn at Diversey and Clark. All are in Lakeview, which is a terrific neighborhood with lots of restaurants and shops, and allare walking distance to Wrigley Field (or a short cab or bus or L trip.) The City Suites hotel is the nicest but probably the most expensive. Best Western Hawthorne is quite nice. Days Inn is cheaper. I'd probably go with the Best Western.

There are no hotels close to Wrigley Field. The best transportation to use is the CTA el train....redline...parking fees are outrageous. Staying downtown is the most obvious place for entertainment but your bills will be high...this is Chicago, the most taxed city in the USA. Why not check out Evanston? It's a large suburb within walking distance of Lake Michigan and has downtown hotels and restaurants that are top notch. CTA will take you to WF:

dbs has explained the experience very well.

i too fly up several times to watch cubbies games.

    the train is very safe.

    hotels are your biggest expense.

type in wrigley field for destination on hotels.com

it will give you the distance.

you'll probably need to take the train everywhere.

    it is ok for everywhere.

    and very friendly.

    have fun !!
