Electricity, heating, cooling a storage container house?
I found a lot of information on these storage container houses. My father used to be a truck driver and was in the military when they used these as shelters and medical assistant buildings. He was not surprised that they were turning these containers into houses! But I just want to use these to build the exterior of a home since it is very strong and stronger than a regular home.
QUESTION: If I were to build a house using these containers can I still use central heat and air...real electric. Not solar, geothermal, etc. I CAN NOT find anything with regular electric lol, its all solar and eco friendly. I would not mind going eco friendly but to start off I have to have the cheap stuff to be move in ready. I have a feeling I'm paying for all this myself, cash, no loan nada. So please any advice and information is appreciated! Thanks!

Your best bet would be to first find out if the building you are considering erecting will be allowable in your area. Are there any building codes? If so you will have to comply. The utility companies in your area may be barred from servicing your dwelling if it is not up to code. Here is a link that explains a bit about codes and the offices you may need to contact.

The term "heat pump" can be confusing. If you are refering to a air conditioning unit that blows cold air in "cold mode" and warm air in "heat mode", then it uses the same amount of energy in either mode. It is just a reversed process, as stated above. In cold mode, the hot air is blown outside of the home and the cool air is circulated inside. In heat mode, the cool air is blown out, and the warm air is circulated inside. Same same.
