Casual Dining in Delray Beach Area?

I am planning a trip with my wife and daughter (4yrs old). We typically enjoy hanging out at the beach and then going to casual seafood shacks, bars and grill, etc. to grab a few beers and something to eat. My wife favors grilled fish sandwiches while I am more adventurous.

Our criteria = good and fresh - I can get frozen seafood anywhere. My daughter is pretty well behaved (for a 4 yr old), but it helps if the place has some noise to it in case she decides to act up. Besides seafood we are pretty omnivorous, but I hate the chain restaurant look, feel, etc. - everything about Fridays, Bennigans, Chilis, Applebees, etc. just gives me a bad vibe - sorry to those who like them or work there - just not my thing. My typical method if exploring is to find a place, sit down at the bar and then ask the staff where they go to eat or where they'd send their older brother's friends (assuming they liked the guy)...

Any help would be great. We'll be exploring Delray and surrounding areas with a car so a bit of driving is cool.

Update:

Please feel free to extend to Ft Lauderdale, Boca, West Palm, etc. as we are pretty mobile

I second the suggestion of Whaler's Rib.

It is in Deerfield. Take A1A South. It is right at the "S" curve where all the action is in Deerfield.

It is a funky place, a bit on the loud side so children fit in very well, and the prices are very reasonable and the food is awesome for medium of the road-type food.

I get halibut stuffed with crab -- or something like that. It is enough for two people and less than $15.00. And you must try their chips! Fattening, but good!

If for some reason they are too busy, you might try JB's on the Beach which is across the street -- ocean side and you get a view.

There is also a beach store across the street and kids seem to really like to look around in there.

    Enjoy!
