how do young celebrites get cast in shows and movies if they live outside california?
i live in ohio and i really want to act, but that idea has been dormant for awhile considering i always thought well you don't have a chance if you don't already have money and live in california. but than i've been noticing alot of child stars lived in other states like tennesse and texas and than got cast for a part. how does that happen? i mean how do they find out about these auditions and stuff? and how are they able to audition if they don't live nearby.

No, it has nothing to do with agencies . . .
What happens is these children have something called "stage mothers" . . . well, okay, I'm joking, a bit.
These children, like you can . . . do their school plays, take acting classes in their home city and state, and their PARENTS take them around to the local agencies that do local commercials and print work.
Then, during PILOT SEASON, these parents, take their kids for three to six months to live in California (near the studios) -- Los Angeles County. Usually in Burbank or Studio City, CA (nicer than Hollyweird).
These parents spend lots and lots of money to live in two places . . .
i.e. the mother and child will go to California and rent a place while the father stays in his small town with the other, non-acting, children.
The mother, in Los Angeles, has already paid for lots of classes, pictures, a portfolio, a reel and lots of others stuff and takes the child from casting directors (who really cast the films, anyway) to agents to agencies, etc., etc. in California.
Then, when "Pilot Season" is over . . .
The mother and child go back home for the rest of the season . . .
and school plays . . .and local commercials . . . etc.
Because, there's really not enough work in films and television after "Pilot Season".
Now, here's what you need to do . . . because you are not these kids and it won't happen for you that way. I know, because, if you ask this question, your parents have no desire to uproot you or your family to try and get you a role:
There's a lot to learn . . .
Enjoy your childhood . ..
Find love inside of you, not outside . . .
Join your high school drama club or classes (Thespian's) . . .
And/or find local acting classes at little community theatre's or through programs such as the Y, Boy and Girls Clubs, etc.
In my hometown of Phoenix, AZ, we had a group called "Centerstage USA" through the local Jewish Community Center. You didn't even have to be Jewish to go there . . . ! I was raised Roman Catholic and Protestant!
Take singing lessons and dance lessons . . .
The more skills you have, the better . . .
Audition for local community theatres, etc.
Find "local" agents who cast the local television commercials . . . and radio voiceover work in your area.
Take local television/film acting classes. . . they are usually NOT free.
>> We also had "Plaza Three" which taught commercial acting classes and even had agents who cast local commercials. I did a commercial at age 13 for our Arizona Electric Company.
If you still love acting and performing at that point . . .
You can go to college and minor in Theatre . . .
Do your college plays and musicals . . .
Steven Spielberg is from my hometown and in college he took film. When he become famous he hired lots of his friends from high school!!! So, start right now, where you are.

They move to Hollywood. (or some other place where they make movies and TV).
It used to be a ting (maybe still is) that people would come to town for pilot season to try to book a pilot. Pilot season is not what it used to be as it's a bit more spread out, but it is still a buy time. That being said, without connections (agent, ect), it's not going a matter one bi how busy it is.

Agencies! (:
You get classes, and get as much experience as possible. Then you find a SAG approved agency and try out for it
You usually need a headshot, but you can take it with a normal camera.
The agency then gets you jobs, depending where your needed.
