jay cutler versus matt cassell you make the call?
jay cutler is a franchise quarterback, matt cassell could be a one year wonder. why in hell would a new coach want some inexperienced qb to lead his team when you have an experienced talent like cutler.
McDonald excuse me McDaniel you messed up big time.

Give me Jay Cutler, Cassell may prove to be a good QB or may be another Elvis.

Well lets see in Cutler's 3rd year starting he had a rating of 86, in cassel's first year starting he had a rating of 89. Cutler has played on a team that is frequently down by 20 or 30 points at half time and has racked up a lot of meaningless yards against vanilla defenses. Cutler has a losing record as a starter, is not a leader, doesn't know the system that mcdaniels will use - and may very well not be smart enough or motivated enough to learn it.
You don't want your starting quarterback to be another Jeff George type premadona - we are talking about a good quarterback in Cutler, not an elite quarterback and not someone who has the cahracter that you need from your quarterback if you want to have a championship team.

Pat Bowlen will understand that in 3 seasons when he is forced to cut his losses and fire him ala Lane Kiffin. The rarest thing in the world is a solid starting quarterback in the NFL... almost anything else you can draft, build, or retool...
The Bronco organization should have immediately kissed Cutler's backside until that warm and fuzzy feeling was back. Pat Bowlen was lulled to sleep by years of complacency and logical excuses by Mike Shanahan... but he picked the wrong time to back a young and unproven head coach... Culter will be the starter in Chicago for the next 12 years... Mc Daniels will be out of Denver after three bad seasons.
And Matt Cassel? He is irrelevant in all of this. The only reason he was successful in New England is because he knew the system, was surrounded by great coaching, and a deep veteran ball club that rallied around him.
He did not just get traded to another outstanding team and organization. Cassel will be starting for perhaps the worst team in football... haven't the Chiefs lost like 23 of their last 25 games or something like that? He is going to have it rough...
This will be a legendary bad trade in the history of the NFL... and how the Patriots are so sure that Brady will pick up where he left off is beside me... He now has a trick knee and a big target for defenders... he is not playing 16 games this year and now Cassel is gone too... Stupidity reigns in the NFL.

Between Cassell and Cutler it's a toss-up as to who is better. They're both unproven young QB's, and that's it. Cutler is just as much of a one year wonder as Cassell. Last year was his only outstanding year.
For all we know Cutler could be out of the league within 3 years.

Cutler easy.
Jimmy J-
QB rating is the most useless stat in all sports.
Being down by 20 means you have to take more chances and get more picks. They are playing nickel and dime defenses against the pass. It is not good for a QB to play from behind. That is why Favre had bad stats in 2005 and 2006.

Jay Cutler is a whining pussy that should have just stayed with the Broncos. He wasn't that good anyway he didn't produce any playoff wins hell not even a playoff berth for that matter. I say for now Jay Cutler is a little bit better but in a few years Matt Cassel will be better.
Source(s): I hope Kyle Orton leads the Broncos to Championships just to make Cutler look like a fool for wanting to be traded. PatsNation. - 1 decade ago
cassell only did good because he had the best o-line in the game and the best group of wide recievers, the pats would make anybody look good
