Do I have to do anything special to make a call to Great Britain?
I have a friend in England and he recently gave me his phone number. I live in the US and have never made a call overseas before. From my cell phone to his, is there anything special that I have to do to talk to him?

Unless US phones work differently to British phones you would dial the UK country code which is 0044 followed by his number
eg if his number was 0779401204 then you would dial
00440779401204
To dial a land line number you would dial the country code followed by the area code and then his number
eg if his number was 734567 and he lived in Derby which has the area code 01332 you would dial
004401332734567
