Generally speaking, I like the Northern Irish accent, but there are some pockets of NI where I don't like their accent, e.g. Ballymena, Antrim and some of the North West. I a soft Belfast accent I think is the best. If it's a rough Belfast accent, it can just sound grating.
Having said that, the Irish have the best accent in the world, I think. I could listen to it all day!

I'm fine with it. I'm American by the way and grew up in an area of the US that had Irish immigrants from all over. The N. Irish accent is fine, some other accents I wasn't that fond of. It does depend on the persons voice or tone as well.
I have met quite a few Irish who don't like the NI accent though.
Edit - it is true that Americans find the kiwi accent very funny. Sorry!

Don't forget there are many different accents - people from Bangor, Belfast, Ballymena, Newry and Derry sound very different. The Antrim/Lisburn accent seems very popular and more musical to the English ear. Eamonn Holmes, Gloria Hunniford and the like have become so successful primarily because of it.

we used to go on holiday to kerry when we were kids and every year we would meet with a group of ppl from the united beach missions, all had N.I. accents and to this day i love it, they used to play this stupid game where you had to say, the moon is round it has two eyes a nose and a mouth can you do that, and i swear every time i hear a N.I. accent i want to ask them to say it lol

I think it sounds very weird, both on TV and in person. But then, I'm not really a fan of the Dublin accent, and a bunch of other accents as well.

I actually quite like the Northern Irish accent for the most part except whenever I hear that Nadine Coyle one from Girls Aloud. How do they put up with her...? Her voice grates my ears!

the lad I sit beside in work is from Donegal, and I can't understand a word he says half the time. He reckons I have some cheek, being a Dub, and according to him my accent is worse, LOL
Some Ulster accents sound almost north American, but all accents should be celebrated and accepted for that they are, a sign of our own individuality

I love it, but Im very biased as my dad and therefore half my family are from Northern Ireland.
It is a harder accent than the accent of the South, but I love it.
