Geoff Hoon - fraudulent rental claims?

Forgive me if I am wrong but isnt benefit fraud when a claimant claims for benefit but then continues working so that he has both the incomes?

Isnt there a law against this? Arent these people prosecuted? Are we not encouraged by advertising to turn these people in?

So what is the difference between Geoof Hoon claiming second home allowance - whilst staying in a grace and favour (free) apartment, AND renting his supposedly main home out?

Isnt that fraud? Or is it me? How long are we, as a country going to put up with this double standard?

Update:

Hang on - so you are saying that there is no law against claiming rental 'expenses' - even when you do not have the expense of that rental to pay?

Surely, that is fraud in anyones language?

Update 2:

Neither can I Willow - neither can I.

And what does Gordon B do?

Sits smiling like a fat cat who actually doesnt know what the fekk to do anymore. Utterly divorced from any kind of morality or leadership.

We're doomed I fear.

Update 3:

New Nanna - its kind of what I am getting at.

Well said. As a landlord, if I claimed expenses on my rental properties that I hadn't incurred and then put that claim into Inland Revenue I think that would most probably be classed as a fraudulent claim. Given that, I'm sure my details would be put under investigation and I'd end up with major issues!

He sure does make you wonder now what all the s h one t was he spouted when he was a minister in the cabinet doesn't it? Something else I wonder about for this whole Labour govt. and all our sitting MPs. How do the soldiers feel about them when this lot sent them over to Afghanistan and Iraq to maybe die to enforce policies this lot set for the country? If I was still a soldier and any of them had sent me over to somewhere like that where I could have died and they conducted themselves like they are I'd do something drastic when I got back. The first thing I'd do is knock each of the flat on their grubby @rses. Then I'd harass them out of the country. Since the compare themselves to a cab for hire if I was the cab companies I'd sue them. They are more like a brothel and are making themselves the chief prostitutes in residence. This is going to be the true labour legacy for this government and all sitting MPs.

No there is no law against claiming expenses in this rule book, as it stands. The rule book has to be upgraded and claims have to be vetted by an independent body not the 'House.'

all animals are equal, except some are more equal than others.

( I hope the Inland Revenue don't investigate this case - it might be very embarrassing

We should know by now, they are a law unto themselves, and never are brought to rule.
