Showering in Chicago?

My suggestion, if you're looking for free shower facilities, would be to join CouchSurfing.com and find a member willing to put you up in their home for the weekend. It is a free service that connects locals with spare couches (and sometimes even guest bedrooms) with travelers needing a place to crash. You pay nothing to stay there and get the added bonus of meeting a local resident who may have some great advice for "can't-miss" things to do while you're in town. You could always arrange with someone to just take a shower at their place if you are really set on the idea of sleeping in the car.

I would think that it would be pretty embrassing to take a shower in public, in front to everybody of everybody, when you are naked. Sleeping in your car is not really a good idea, where will everybody will sleep. There are plenty of hotels that are in the city, and what kind of hotels, would they be without a bathroom in all the rooms, with a shower. Plus a truck stop, I bet that won't just let you show, without giving them business, and all I see that all you want is a free shower. I can't think of a single hotel, that ever chargers their custmors money to use their shows, but they will charge you for other services, which includes spending the night(s) there, and maybe even if they have treats out, that you might think is free, but then they charge you for taking them.

You could go your park district that has showering facilities.If there is a pool or gym then they would have showering facilities.You could also go to the ymca.You would just need to purchase a day pass.

Find a gym that give a free trial workout, and use their shower.

Use an opened fire hydrant in the neighborhoods. They're easy to find by the blasting water and are almost everywhere in the inner city:
