Am I overreacting or is my boyfriend selfish?
I have noticed that my bf has needy tendencies. Today apparently he got upset because he called me when I was driving home from work and I didn't have my bluetooth so I told him I was gonna call him when I got home because I didn't want to be caught talking on my cell when I was driving. So when I got home, I was really hungry so I texted him saying that I was going to eat dinner before I called him. He never responded to that text. I called him after I ate dinner, and he didn't answer, so I got his voicemail. He called me back forty minutes later and was an ***. He told me that I was taking him 'for granted'. I don't see how that is taking him for granted! I was planning on calling him back!! Oh, and he still has yet to give me my birthday gift. My birthday was a month ago, and he didn't do anything for it. He didn't even wish me a happy birthday! I had to contact him first on my birthday. He always gets pissed off when I am too busy to talk to him and he
'punishes' me later by ignoring my phone calls. He says it's to keep me from 'taking him for granted'. So, tell me, am I overreacting or does he really want it to be all about him??
Oh and I must add that my bf hates it when I tell him he's being rude. He gives me the silent treatment when I do

Ahhh!! He sounds so similar to my last boyfriend! First and foremost you are NOT overreacting! From what you've written, you didn't do anything neglectful or unappreciative - I think you handled the situation the proper way. Your boyfriend sounds like he has some growing up to do because getting upset over something like that is irrational. It's not like he didn't know where you were or what you were doing or had any reason to be suspicious or neglected. He needs to understand that you're on two different schedules and you may not always be able to talk exactly when he wants to. How do you react when you call him and he is unavailable? Also, inform him that ignoring your phone calls to "punish" you is not only childish, but also "cutting off his nose to spite his face" because HE'S the one who wants to talk so bad! Did he ever think of it like that? Trying to "get back" at someone is no way to solve a problem OR get your point across - it only makes things worse. I hope this has helped some. =)

maybe he aint getting enough sexual pleasure so he is on edge and rude more often. but he also sounds like he has a bigger problem going on... cuz he should understand that you wanan eat food before you starve before you talk to him on the phone. its also a possibility that he didnt get your text saying "im gonna eat first then call you, xoxox" so it might all just be miscommunication

what a freakin jerk you should ust ignore him one day. just get mad at him. and then turn off your phone and say you dont want to talk to him. what an *** . i dont even think he likes you if he doesnt even remember or do anything for your birthday. he sounds like a controlling possessive jerk. good luck with that!

he's just plain selfish and not being understanding as he should be. telling him how you feel might help..
