Does anyone know who has the right to keep the puppies?

I have a female chihuahua and she just had 5 puppies! My dog is a little slut and she did it with 2 dogs! I had no idea until she had her puppies! All of a sudden some kid walks up to me and tells me when I am going to give him half of the puppies... I told him that he wasn't going to keep any! My cousin is the one who should(if I want to) keep half the puppies... Now there is a huge fight between me my cousin and the random kid... Now, my question is... can I just keep all the puppies and not give any to anyone?

Update:

Thanks to all the answers! okay... i think i didnt explain well... i let my dog out to go poop and she ran fast somewhere... while i went looking for her... she was stuck to the other dog... (*they are all chihuahuas*) i got her and i took her home with me... about a week ago though she had already done it with my cousins dog... we planned this... (my cousins dog is a dark brown short haired chihuahua and the other kids is a long haired white chihuahua) the result of the dogs mating is 2 black short haired... 1 light brown short haired(just like my female)... 1 dark brown long haired... and 1 white/black long haired...they r all boys... i hope i answered all questions (3

if you didn't know she was pregnant -- how did you know she "did it" with 2 dogs?

    i sense irresponsible ownership.

i think you should just give all the pups up to a rescue/shelter. you weren't responsible enough to keep just that ONE dog safe from harm, and get her spayed -- how can you expect to keep SIX of them safe?

If you own the female it is your right to keep the puppies.

Now if you had used a stud and it wasnt just a random accident that she was bred then the ownership of puppies would have been agreed upon at the time of breeding.

Just tell the other kid he will have to prove that his dog is the father of the puppies that should take care of your problem.

Your dog isn't a slut and she more than likely did it with more than two males. Dogs don't practice monogamy. Secondly i doubt some kid just walked up to you and said this since they can't even prove it was their dog.

have your dog fix have her puppies fixed when they are old enough and then find them ALL good homes.

Owner of the female is owner of the pups.

....lol this sounds like a custody battle. But yeah, I totally agree with the others above, all those puppies are yours. Otherwise anyone could go and have their male dog knock up random female dogs and they'd get tons of free puppies. So yeah, no contract, no pups.

Gee, what a mess you have gotten into for being sooooo irresponsible! You own the b*tch, so therefore you own the pups, no matter how sires the litter has. No contract, no deal for either this random guy or your cousin, unless you want it that way. It's your litter. Now, take those pups and find forever homes for them, if you get any money at all for those pups, use it to have your Chi spayed......before her next season!

If you were a breeder and have the female then you pay either a stud fee for the male to impregnate your dog or he would get the pick of the litter. But a random pregnancy when nothing was planned then they are all yours.

owner of the female has rights to the puppies.

Your dog isnt a "slut" your dog did what dogs do. You're an irresponsible owner for allowing an intact female to have contact with males.

wow,why did you let you girl out while she was in heat, its her nature to mate if she is at the right time in heat,so i think the only biatch here isn't your dog

as for the puppies, you don't know who fathered the pups,so i would just tell that random kid,his male didn't father the puppies, plus find them good homes,

what breeds where the 2 males?

If there was NO contract written up before the breeding took place, then the owner of the dam (YOU) has the rights to the puppies. No one else has *any responsibility* in caring for, paying for, OR keeping any of those pups. Who you decide to give them to is your business.

Please have your dog spayed when she's done raising these pups!

Yes you can keep all the puppies or you can just give some to your cousin. Just because your dog mated with his dog doesn't give the kid any right to the puppies. Its not a custody battle, they're dogs, your dog gave birth to them they're your's to do with as you please.
