Are the blades on disposable razors inferior to the replaceable blades you can buy? How and why?

It seems the disposables go dull more quickly than the blades you buy to install on the razor. Why would that be so? Do the companies actually make different grades of those tiny little blades (which are then put into the little molded cartridges or disposable razors in quantities of up to 4 per)?

Yes the blades ARE inferior. The main difference on the disposables is the thickness of the blades. It's not able to be noticed with the naked eye but the metal is actually thinner. This leads to a much much shorter blade lifespan (1 or 2 uses) compared to a heavier blade. The heavier blade resists damage much better.

Of course they can still sell it under the same name (Mach 3 vs Mach 3 Disposable) because the over all shape and number of blades is the same... but like I said, just inferior blades.

Wal*Mart sells the generic Mach 3 razor blades for like half the price of the name brand.
