Name of a Beatles song?

Hey guys and gals,

So here's my story.....

Since we have only 6 days left in Afghanistan after a 6 month tour, we've just been doing admin work and relaxing and since we've had the internet and computer at this base as we have mainly been out yomping for weeks or at FOBs (which is like being stuck in the middle ages) training up the afghan nation army, anyway basically we have been abusing the internet and listening to a tonne of music and there was this Beatles song which came on and I asked for what it was called but for the life of me I cant remember the name of the song!

The song started with like a multple count in like "1, 2, 3, 4" and then someone in the background counts in too, then the song kicked in and the first lyrics where like "let me tell you how it will be, one for you..." or something similar.

Also, could you please tell me what the best Beatles album is as I would like to listen to them when I get home haha

Thanks alot, all the best.

Update:

Taxman! thats it!

Thanks alot, guys it's being annoying me for ages!

Its a brilliant song too!

I shall be sure to check out the recommended albums too, thanks!

Also, yeah I can't wait to get home! its just a shame a lot of lads won't be coming home though

Taxman- From the Masterpiece known as Revolver

My personal fave is none other then The White Album....

Though some may disagree, every Beatles Album is great.. They evolved a little more with each Album they released.. you will not be dissapointed by any of them, at least I hope not...

    1. Yesterday 2. Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds 3. Octopus's Garden 4. Let It Be 5. A Day In The Life 6. With A Little Help From My Friends 7. Um... I think Revolution 8. While My Guitar Gently Weeps 9. I Am The Walrus

  • That would be Taxman.

    From Revolver.

But you already know that from the numerous answers before me.

Oh well, here are the lyrics:

    Let me tell you

    How it will be.

    There's one for you,

    Nineteen for me,

    'Cause I'm the taxman.

    Yeah, I'm the taxman.

    Should five percent

    Appear too small,

    Be thankful I don't

    Take it all.

    'Cause I'm the taxman.

    Yeah, I'm the taxman.

    If you drive a car,

    I'll tax the street.

    If you drive to city,

    I'll tax your seat.

    If you get too cold,

    I'll tax the heat.

    If you take a walk,

    I'll tax your feet.

    Taxman!

    'Cause I'm the taxman.

    Yeah, I'm the taxman.

Don't ask me what I want it for,

    (Uh-uh, Mr. Wilson.)

If you don't want to pay some more.

    (Uh-uh, Mr. Heath.)

    'Cause I'm the taxman.

    Yeah, I'm the taxman.

    And my advice to

    Those who die.

    (Taxman!)

    Declare the pennies

    On your eyes.

    (Taxman!)

    'Cause I'm the taxman.

    Yeah, I'm the taxman,

And you're working for no one but me.

    (Taxman!)

    Taxman ~ The Beatles

I'd get either Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band or Abbey Road. I have both of them on vinyl and they're great. You might want to try out the L.O.V.E. compiliation though. It has a lot of their great songs on it.

Some people regard Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band as the best album in rock and roll history.

Good luck on your return home.

It's the song everyone else has mentioned, but my favorite album of the Beatles is The Soundtrack to their movie Help, or the soundtrack to A Hard Day's Night. Those cover the whole Beatlemania days the best.

And in case no one else remembers--thank you.

    Hi!

That's Taxman, written by George Harrison in 1966 for the album "Revolver".

    Here are the lyrics:

    Let me tell you how it will be;

There's one for you, nineteen for me.

    'Cause I'm the taxman,

    Yeah, I'm the taxman.

Should five per cent appear too small,

Be thankful I don't take it all.

    'Cause I'm the taxman,

    Yeah, I'm the taxman.

    (if you drive a car, car;) - I'll tax the street;

    (if you try to sit, sit;) - I'll tax your seat;

    (if you get too cold, cold;) - I'll tax the heat;

(if you take a walk, walk;) - I'll tax your feet.

    Taxman!

    'Cause I'm the taxman,

    Yeah, I'm the taxman.

Don't ask me what I want it for, (ah-ah, mister Wilson)

If you don't want to pay some more. (ah-ah, mister heath)

    'Cause I'm the taxman,

    Yeah, I'm the taxman.

Now my advice for those who die, (taxman)

Declare the pennies on your eyes. (taxman)

    'Cause I'm the taxman,

    Yeah, I'm the taxman.

And you're working for no one but me.

    Taxman!

    GREETINGS!
