Using a VLOOKUP command how can I change the cells format?

Sounds to me like you would be better pasting the vlookup cells was values using paste special then use conditional formatting to color the cells which is under format>conditional formatting.

vlookup doesn't bring through conditional formatting and you need to highlight all the cells you want included in the formatting before selecting conditional formatting too or it only does the one cell.

VLOOKUP will let you manage the DATA for the cell. Conditional Formatting will let you manage the Format based on the DATA.

So, define the conditional format for one cell and copy the formatting over to the rest of the cells which have to behave similarly,
