what does this phrase mean?

i was talking to sum1 last week and she was talking bout a guy she knows. she said "i always thought he was left swing"

what does that phrase mean?! i didn't get a chance to ask her.

    Did she say 'left swing' or 'left wing'? I do not know what left wing means but if she said 'left wing' then she means that he is on the liberal side of the political divide.
