why does my laptop battery say that the max. is 88Wh but it will only charge to 44.7WH?

i am running linux and it only charges to 57% of capacity why could this be?

the computer is only 2 mo. old

    for my opinion, a good laptop battery can charge for 90%. so what you need is a new laptop battery.

    A) You leave you're computer plugged in all the time --> don't do that

    B) You don't wait until the battery is completely dead to charge it --> don't do that

    --You need to reset your battery's "zero point" - if you can run windows and its an HP laptop, there is a handy wizard that will do that for you
